Anyone got any idea what is meant by "limited quantities"?

Probably only 10 or 20 pallet loads a batch ;)

Unfortunately I'll not be part taking for that price. And it seems to me that the reported price is always lower than what it actually comes out at :?

I'm sure it will be very very nice though.

€180 ok for limited supply but it has the sound of a long term available premium over priced bottle which will undoubtedly be a fantastic dram if others are to go by!

For anyone going whiskylive the 15 for tasting redbreast family sounds cheap!

Hopefully there'll be a sample of the 21 to try too. At €180+ a bottle it'll be out of most peoples pockets too.

Nice jump in age, I wonder if that is to make sure that (age wise) it is visibly well clear of whatever ageing will be agreed on for a forthcoming (colour) Spot?!
The price is steep alright, more than twice the price of the RB 15yo.

I think you right John.
I think the price will put it out of allot of peoples reach. Can it really be worth twice as much as the 15?

While it's nice to try the new Powers, Paddy and Redbreast 21 at the Irish distillers preview event, I feel the Powers is over priced as it should be available to everyone. The others are very limited and you can argue a case for the price. All premium whiskeys are now gone up in price. I was buying regular Redbreast for €40 3 years ago, it's now €57. This is in light of our resession.
Its killing the domestic market I feel. Premium whiskey should be accessible to everyone. It is fast becoming a elitist drink. It could very easily come back and bite them.

Tasted Redbreast 21 yesterday evening courtesy of IDL.

The 27-Year Old component in the vatting is "Trad Pot" from 1985 which would make it a cousin of the dearly departed Jameson 15 Millenium Edition - also distilled in 1985! :D

The absinthe-y note on the nose is intriguing to say the least.

If I can find a buyer for my spare kidney I may buy two bottles, as this is probably the last chance to taste/nose Trad Pot from this era. :geek:

Discuss. :ugeek:

Only good thing about the price is that it has finally pushed me into buying a 15 year...can't justify €180 just now as a Barry Crockett is ahead of it on my wanted list.

Just tucking into this tonight - this is an incredible whiskey in my opinion - this is on a par with the 1976 fino cask benriach I had in the warehouse last week and those who were there will know that this is high praise!

Great to see justification in the price tag even if it is such a price!

I would have preferred to have seen stated limited release even so many bottles per year with annual vintages of the 21yo.

For sure it wont sell in bulk but one has to wonder is supply really limited as numeric sequencing or even annual allotments would seem more appropriate to a "limited" whiskey!

I try and be philosophical about the price and think if it as on a par with Jameson RVR, if not better, but at half the price.

He did and I can tell you it went particularly well with some Fava beans and a nice chianti.

Have you tasted a sample yet Adrian?

I treated myself to a glass after dinner in L. Mulligan yesterday afternoon (€19.00! ) - the Wormwood/Absinthe/Feé Vert notes on the nose and finish (back of the tongue) are truly magnificent... :D

That said, Rachel Lindsay tasted it with me and remains unconvinced - this vatting will divide people along the lines of indifferent/besotted.

Is anyone out there likewise unimpressed? :geek:

I was eager to try more after we tried it prior to Whisky Live. I didn't get a chance to really get into it there. I'll have to buy a bottle, unless you are willing to donate to a good cause?

Could not wait so gave it a go ... certainly seems like, at minimum, a good whiskey. Due to stuffed nose I could not get any decent aroma which also impacts on the taste. However I did notice that it sparkles on the tongue and certainly has that interesting character that is present in the Jameson 15yo Millennium PPS and to a lesser degree the 2005 15yo RB. This also comes across as quite complex. Enjoyed it but know I'm not getting anything like the whole impact out of it. What I did notice however which surprised me a small bit is that it has quite a light mouth feel. Not a rich as the 15 year olds.

Really looking forward to tasting this on a fresh and clear palate, then I'll be able to make up in my own mind if this is a good, great or stellar whiskey.

Must return to the RVR too to see how it stacks up against the RVR but from memory there is more indept fruitiness going on in the RVR.

"Stellar" in my opinion.

The "absinthe" on the nose will have you captivated, well, when it clears... ;)

More notes please! :geek:
