Old Redbreast 12 (80-s bottling) for 5.50
i asked the barman for the price and he checked on the till and he said 5.50,i do not think he know that this bottle is worth about 250-300, but i was happy with the price, so i have ordered a regular redbrest 12 as well and done a side by side tasting
it was interesting to see the color of them and the taste was funny of the oldone, taste like having water when i hold it on my tongue and had a funny finish what i cannot discribe
i asked him to sell me the remaining of the bottle, but he said no off sale
so if someone wants to try them side by side, hurry up there, becouse there is not much left in the oldone

I've tried the whiskey you're talking about. I know the aftertaste you mean, and from memory there's a bit of the same thing of some in the other old PPSs. It's a kind of musty aftertaste. I think I read somewhere that by the time some of the last of these old Redbreasts were bottled they were in cask a lot longer that 12 years and some of them were past their best. The old label dates from when the brand was owned by Gilbeys and they were bottling old stock long after Jameson and later Midleton had stopped supplying them with casks. In fact, I'm not sure if any of there stock ever came from Midleton or if it's all old Jameson stuff from Dublin. It was bottled as a 12yo in the 80's but was probably older. Jameson ceased production and moved to Midleton in the 70's, as far as I know.
John M will know! Are you out there John??
