Let's talk whiskey.

Connemara Cask Strength 57.9%. There's a bit of rubber on the palate, not bad rubber, but the fresh 'car tyre' type of rubber that's ok.

I had some Knappogue 12yo tonight. Not bad but it didn't set me alight. I'll keep trying.

Cadenhead's Cooley 13 60.6%. This is great, come on the Irish.

Highland Park 12 BF the 50% one. Quite sour and inferior to the Cooley i just had, by a long way.

Cragganmore 19 BF 53.8%. This is a grand whisky, complex with green apple.

There are a few spots alright, but the cheapest is certainly Harvest off-license at E34.99, McCambridges/Freeneys have it for E44.99 if you want to fork out the extra tenner.

cheers

teachers highland cream. lovely stuff for the money. this will be my new pub whisky and i will always have this on hand at home in the future. very complex for a blend....

Tyrconnell 15yo. Near the end of the bottle but it still has bags of flavour.

Last night

Tyrconnell 17yo

Basil Haydens Bourbon ... still trying to make my mind up over this. Very interesting nose ... fresh mint and vegatal notes.

finished with a Midleton single cask sample ... delish :)

how do you clean your palate? tasting various types never seems to work for me. the ones i have first always seem to linger and make later ones taste off. i know people say water and crackers, but that doesn't cut it for me

Thats because I usually leave at least 30 seconds between different whiskeys :P

No seriously I don't seem to have that issue and just have water on the side. I basically drink water in tandem with my whiskey so I'm cleansing my palate as I go even through just one whiskey.

Just a sip of 2 small ones as it's only Monday night ....

Started with a gentle giant ... Laphroaig 15yo. A relaxed Laph but still a touch more than most out side of Islay.

Now sipping Yamazaki 18yo ... Another smoothie but with good complexity
