jameson 12yo distillery reserve. lovely dram. loads of wood, spice, nuts, sherry and very musty. i hardly pick up on any must in the standard 12yo.

The two Bladnoch forum Highland Park 12. From h/h 6258 50.5% and 6259 50%. They were distilled 2 months apart.

The 50.5% is superior, due to a more lively barrel. The 50% is thinner, especially on the delivery. I have four IB HPs open at the moment, and i'm looking forward to a vertical very soon.

I've a couple of those. The ones I have are both the same. Pretty nice, I think. Great value single cask Hihgland Park.

John, they are both very good on the first session. Interesting to try them side by side, and excellent value.

Nikka Whisky From The Barrel.
Yoichi 12.

Hakushu Heavily Peated, typical Hakushu being excellent, the best of Japan.

Mackmyra The 1st Edition, interesting.

That's what I said about it too ... can't say I'm a fan though ... however the older versions seemly are much better so I probably should seek one out.

There is an excellent whisky here, an odd 'cherry' flavour sits on top though, reminds me of those cherry scented erasers from primary school, not unpleasant but just odd.

The English Whisky Co. St Georges Chapter 9. This is simply stunning, a masterful malt barley presence.

Connemara Cask Strength 57.9%. A nose to die for, there are plenty of great whiskies on my shelf for this festive season.

Cooley 13 Cadenheads 60.6%. Cooley is surely one of the great current malt distilleries.

And finally, just opened a Braes Of Glenlivet 20 SMOS 59.3%. The marathon opening is over, for now.

Finishing an old sample of Supernova SN2010. A wee bit rougher than the Stellar Release, but certainly warming to the core.

During December I'm running an "Advent-urous" series of a dram a day,
day No. 4 is Redbreast 12y, a jolly decent dram indeed.

Ventured out with some neighbours into the snow today to show it who was boss. Cleaned up a number of the neighbouring estate roads and some pathways - all powered by the 2009 Redbreast 15yo. General consensus was that it was 'good stuff''. That'll do! :D

The last drams of Tomintoul 14 ncf nc 46%. This is a fine whisky, anyone tempted to try a Tomintoul should try this one, a clean and honest whisky.

There are a few spots alright, but the cheapest is certainly Harvest off-license at E34.99, McCambridges/Freeneys have it for E44.99 if you want to fork out the extra tenner.
