bowmore legend. nothing amazing going on here, but by no means is it bad or unpleasant. good starter for someone who wants to get into peaty islays as it will not overwhelm you. i could easily use this as a pub dram if they carried it

Tullamore Dew Black43 - I opened this last night and I'm having it again - I have to say this is the first modern TD that I've really liked - very moreish. Not the most complex on Earth or anything but I'd say this would be a great session down the whiskey - I'd love to see this in a pub.

Laphroaig 13 OMC. This is fine, nowt wrong with it, but it could be a bit finer - nice and dry.

Last night I opened up one of my precious Bushmills Sherry Single casks.

Distilled 1989 Bottled 2005 53.7% NCF

Just sat back and enjoyed it with out too much disecting.

Lovely velvety sherry, like sticking your nose into a bag of rasins with a touch of dry wood very nice indeed.

WIll be sad to see these particular ones go ... these were the ones that had no front label so you could get your name printed on the label and then stuck on, kind of Orangy tan colour). Got them in Dublin Air Port travel retail in 2005 for 70Euro each if I remember correctly but steadily got more expensive but I suppose the 90Euro CWS charged for their single cask was not too far off the makeespecially compared to single casks now. And David Quinn who is now with Midleton was the man behind these beauties.

I cannot understand why these never really caught on in the wider whisky buying public while the hype behind Japanese and even Indian whiskies get very favourable mentions these days. Ahh well in one way it is not a bad thing as it keeps them at reasoable prices in the Auction markets

I have an unopened bottle of both the Sherry and Bourbon matured Single Cask Bushmills - terrific stuff!

My plan is to eventually open both at the one sitting and attempt a mini vatting as Iain B has in the past.

That said, we may be waiting a while to see anything innovative from Bushmills under their current owners...

Last night ( at a great wedding ) i had a copious amount of the standard Jamesons, an excellent 'bar whisky'.

A couple of Bladnoch Forum bottlings tonight. The Cragganmore 19 and the Aultmore 28. I thought i'd enjoy the Cragganmore more, but tonights champion is the Aultmore. Smoother and more sophisticated, but it was close, so on a different day the results could differ.

I have to amend this as i feel i haven't done this whisky justice. This is an excellent whisky, for me the best 'non-malt' Irish whisky i've had, looks like i'm going to have to visit more. I'd love to try a 46%er, the "Jameson Rarest 2007 Vintage Reserve" must have been a treat.

The Jameson 12 is a step up. And so is the standard Powers, I think. And as for the Redbreast... The 15 yr old is bottled at 46% too.

Actually, was in the Stag's Head last night and saw they had Powers from the cask. I didn't get to try it as I was driving, though.

I'll second that on the Jameson 12, especially the Distillery Reserve.
