Decorating my whiskey room

There's a fireplace between to sets of whiskey shelves. Do you think putting this over the fireplace would be too much?

That's ok. My young lads like venison. We had some a few weeks ago. They wanted to know was it Rudolf!

My wife doesn't approve. Any suggestions as to how I might try and convince her one got there by accident. Like it got trapped in the next room or something and tried to break through the wall.

I love venison too. I had cured reindeer once and didn't like it at all. I didn't want to offend the person who offered it to me, so I wrapped it in tissue and put it in my pocket. But I forgot it was in there...

The moral of this story is, eh, I'm not sure why I even told this story.

In summary, venison.

Well you could tell your wife that taxidermists usually put a substance in these stuffed animals to keep flies away ... hence one all in one fly repellant for the house. FOr proof ask her has she ever seen a fly in a castle ;)

The head of one of your enemies might not have the same aesthetic appeal over the fireplace. Anyway the stag's head will make it easier to hang the Christmas decorations.
It's better to have drunk it all, than never to have drunk at all.

Maybe the local deer are among my enemies. I'm not saying they are. I'm just saying maybe...

I was in the Phoenix Park last week. There was a deer cull going on. Wouldn't let me help though.

Sorry about that - I decided I wanted one for every room though it's a little distracting when you're in the loo.

Couldn't agree with you there IainB, in fact the loo is the first place you should have one. After all where else should a gentleman put his bog roll?

That's so true. I never thought of that. Maybe another one as a towel holder.

Zoltan, can I borrow that gun again.

Of course now that guns and alcohol are bring mentioned on the same website the US Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are probably watching us.

I'd be too worried the optic would leak. I used to have one in the whiskey room but it broke.

With the women I know, they would never allow a whiskey room in the first place. Maybe a bar in the den, but a whiskey room? You should count your blessings that you have such a room in the first place, and not push the deer head issue. For a couple weeks anyway. :D

Instead, ask her if you can have a human skull on your mantle. (I have one, but a real good fake). She might think the deer is a nice compromise.
