I listen to a lot of podcasts myself (not drinks ones though - I must investigate this list).

The thing is, they are all produced on good recording equipment specifically as podcasts. I can't imagine the recording of our room being very compelling. It will be full of noise and long gaps during tasting. It will miss any dialogue between the presenter and the audience, something that is important at our tastings but can't be permitted for a recording (you could pass a mic around but it would remove the conversational element we have now).

Ideally, when we have special guests, someone would take them off to a quiet place for 15 minutes and record an interview. A nice piece of easy-to-use equipment for doing this is the Zoom H2. It could be supplemented by a chat between the Prez and Vice-Prez on what's new and what's coming up, hot topics on the forum, etc.

Mark Gillespie has a good Whisky podcast site which is worth looking at. Basically weekly whisky news podcasts.

In regard to doing our own podcasts I think I'd have to agree with David. We would need a structured approach to a pod cast and I think it would need to be done independently of the actual tasting. Dave's suggestion of an Interview with the presenter is a good one and we could also add a synopsis of the whiskies tasted including the favourite of the night.
