The Art of Distilling Whiskey and other spirits

For the dreamers amongst you, There's a nice little glossy book out called The Art of Distilling Whiskey and other spirits
It will keep the dreamers among you happy for a while. Its mainly an up to date expose on artisan distillation in the USofA.

All you have to do is buy someplace like this, a little still, a license, a big sweeping brush, a few bags of malt, a few old casks and bobs your uncle.

It (the book) is a nicer production than the Alaskan Bootlegger's Bible

Once you're over that and have the Lagavullin DE poured, you can then tuck into ...Whiskey and Philosophy: A Small Batch of Spirited Ideas and fall asleep with a smile on your face.

It's good to know there are still dreamers out there especially in these days of doom and gloom

I always wondered how many suitable old ruins are out there that would do for a distillery.

How clean and good is that water michael ;)

What about a private member society effort 8-)

Still dreaming ...

While rambling back from a hurling event in Kilkenny, I pottered up to Leighlinbridge and Bagenalstown to have an ice creal with the wanes on the banks of the Barrow.
Spotted an old maltings (former brewery) for sale on 11 acres. asking €400k
See http://www.independent.ie/farming/prope ... 47097.html and

Anyone got a few bob?

The Bagenalstown location look really nice and would be a lovely loacation for a distillery. Whether or not it is easily accessible from a main road or not is another question.

€400k sounds reasonable for such buildings but the protected status snooker anyone from making it suitable for a certain use.

As you say live and dream ...
