Celtic Nations ??

Let's talk whiskey.

Celtic Nations ??

Postby Tsolias » Mon Nov 09, 2009 9:40 pm

Has anyone tried this? I remember I saw it in a liquor store in Kilkenny (about 6 months ago  )

It's a vatted malt (Scotch & Irish) from Bruichladdich (that is Bruichladdich and an Irish single malt together), at 46%abv, nc, ncf

I have tried it. It's not really to my taste, but that's not to say it's bad.

We had it at one of the very earliest society tastings in Bowe's back at the start of the year, along with a lovely old Springbank, I think.
It would be nice to see the notes from the tastings going up on the site, come to think of it.

I've never heard of such a mixture but would love to try it - will keep my eyes open for it.

Lots available on eBay, usually. Should be an easy enough one to find.

Jon Mark and Robbo had one out also.

'The Smooth Sweeter One'

Initially is was just a Pure Irish Malt(Cooley) then they changed to an Irish Scotchmix(Cooley70%/Bunnahabhain30%). I have one of each as curios. Do a search on eaby as the Irish/Scotch mix may still be about.

They possibly ended their run of the Smooth Sweeter one as a scotch only but I have a feeling they have gone out of business.

And I'd reckon more so in the surrounds of Gernika too ;)

I think they are just John and Mark i think Robbo jumped ship, if i remember correctly it was mentioned in "The review of the whisky year" at the start of Jim Murrays bible (08 i think but maybe 09)

Didn't he work for the Edrington group, or something like that?

I think, but don't know for sure, that they're only available in the US now.
