Scots with un named whisky ???

Over the years at home abroad or at Rugby matches I would always bump in to a Scot with his hipflask of "Mystical"un named whiskey..Whassup ?? is this some type of grunge below the line marketing ????
Why cant they name their favourite tipple and be proud,,Strange nes pas !!
