Old whisky bottle

Postby rlunder » Fri Nov 17, 2017 1:47 am

Hello...my father-in-law found an old bottle of Gilbey's Crock O' Gold Special Light Irish Whisky. I have been looking online but can't find much information other than it is rare. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi rlunder,

Can you post a picture as it will help to date this more easily. However we're more interested in full bottles ;) So may not be able to provide a value if empty as it is a totally different circle of collectors for empty old bottles. A lot of the time these are pretty worthless unless a very very old or a pottery crock/jar

Dates from mid 1950s to 1960s,was an early Gilbey's export of especially light blended whiskey to the USA, to appeal to the lighter palate blended whiskies that were popular post WWII.
