What's your latest whiskey purchase?

Let's talk whiskey.

I went to the Celtic Whiskey Shop last year and picked up all I could cart back to America. Unfortunately, that was not enough. Just placed my first mail order with them. Eagerly awaiting;

L Mulligan 9 Year Old Single Malt
Inishowen Blended Irish Whiskey
Dunvilles PX Cask 10 Year Old
Writers Tears Red Head Single Malt

The L Mulligan intrigued me. Only 300 bottles produced. Not sure if I should open it or save it! All of them struck a cord with me whether it's exclusivity, sherry overtones, peat or unique labels. Either way, they'll look good in the new whiskey cabinet I just bought! Cheers.

Just ordered 2 (their limit) of the Dingle First Batch from CWS. Anyone else bite on this?

well, it is not bad...

but...

it has been "re-branded" called now as "crested" :D
basically, they dropped the "ten"
in fact, it is not ten years old anymore, but got a fancy bottle and label, and of course, and i am sure you are not surprised, price went up

so i decided to pick up a few while they are still around, specially at a good price.

Haven't tried it yet. Waiting for the right time to share with some people who can appreciate it. Too many of my friends only like beer. Maybe it's time for new friends!

Now Pat, I know you know at least one person who would appreciate it!

I actually tried to order a bottle of the same recently but stocks were all out according to the website. So I instead ended up picking up the cask strength Writer's Tears that I've been wanting for a while.

Been off the radar for some time so hello to all.

Recent trip to Munich gave me a couple of bottle of Jameson Gold Reserve (virgin oak version) and a bottle of Redbreast 12 and a recent trip to an Apple Green store in Cork I picked up 2 more Jameson Gold Reserve (original for e84 ea ;) ) a Jameson 18 limited (e100 ;) ) and a Powers 12 year old reserve. I was quiet pleased with those Apple Green purchases in particular. :D

Nice spot, always great to spot these little nuggets when just passing by some where ...

That brings the term fuel stop to a new level

Did you buy any fuel on that trip or did the cashier just think you were filling the car with whiskey? ;-)

Teeling 'Galway Bay Stout Cask finish' Whiskey. €50 in O'Briens; as compared to €85 in the Teeling distillery, albeit that they also throw in a bottle of the Galway Bay 200 Fathoms stout.

Method and Madness PPS finished in the Chestnut Cask ------ completely
Sold out everywhere at this stage. Some going considering there were I
believe 900 cases and only launched in February and not exactly a
bargain basement whiskey . The reason some sellers reckon this one sold out
So quickly Was the very attractive colour of the contents !!!

Jack Ryan 15 year old Centenary. Not as complex as I thought. A little harsh. Finished with a cigar with a raccoon in the backyard. A little creepy but not really any better. I've had better 8 year olds than this. Good but not a $100 whiskey.
