Paddy Whisky / Whiskey Sign

I've seen a few of these in the recent past and I've wondered if they were factory issued? And why the incorrect spelling?

That's the real deal. There are a few around.

The spelling is correct too. Paddy was spelt without an "e" until the 70's. In fact Midleton & Hewitts were spelt Whisky too.

Yes as Will says, Cork had a great tradition of spelling whisky with out the e.

The spelling with an e was basically a modern standardisation by IDG (Now IDL) when they had the monopoly on the production of Irish Whiskey.
It was decided that to differentiate Irish from Scotch was to introduce Irish Whiskey to the world by emphasizing that all irish whiskey was spelt with an e.

Paddy Whisky without the "e" continued until around 1976.

Paddy released a centenary bottle in 2013 and they spelt it without the E.
