I've heard very little about it ... €295 is quite a steep price but I suppose it is a 24yo and a single cask so at least your getting something for your money but there has been very little promotion about it and even less people mentioning that they have tasted it.
I don't even know the company behind it. However with the 1916 centenary coming up and I think you can be sure the 1916 expressions might do a bit better collectors may then work back to this one.
It's a punt and a long term holder I would guess.
Also to factor in going forward people need to realise that in five to ten years time we are going to be flooded with "collectible"
whiskey.
What all these new distilleries will do is show people a wider range of whiskey and people will need to start differentiating against good and great whiskey.
For me Cooley has yet come out with a stellar whiskey, plenty of good stuff but I have yet to taste something from them that has stopped me in my tracks.
I've had that with Midleton and Bushmills, and all not too surprisingly they would have been single casks or high end limited stuff.
