the Johns Lane 12 is a staple at the Birdhouse.....

Does anyone know if that will be a continuous release, or just a 1 off run? I'd hate to run out anytime soon. ;)

Bunnahabhain 18 and Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. The first one for myself, the second to have on hand as a surprise for my eldest son who really liked it at a tasting. By itself the Quinta Ruban didn't do a lot for me but I suspect it may turn out to go very well with a cigar.

It's here to stay. It has become very popular since its release. I can see Powers getting a big push in the next few years.

There is a good bit of the Teeling stock being released in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Personally, I like the fact the the don't appear to be finished in different casks, although the finished ones are good too.

It really is top notch stuff.

Here is the latest one...

Been on a mini splurge in the last couple of weeks but nothing too exciting and all for personal consumption as is any purchase I make anymore.

Regular Paddy for 20 yo-yo's, Locke's 8yo Lightly peated single malt. Glen Marnoch Islay edition from Aldi so will be interesting top see how this fares for €25.
A bottle of Bushmills Special Reserve (i.e. the short continuation of the Millenium reserve for Duty Free) and 2 x Black bush one from the 70's (Cork Top) and one from the 80's, thanks Whiskey Bro for letting me relieve you of them  . So will be tasting the 2 blackbush against the current version which is in my opinion half the whiskey it used to be but I shall proved right or wrong in the near future Bo) .

Caol Ila 30 Year Old 1983 (2014 Special Release) arrives tomorrow, I hope I like it as much as other whisk(e)yenthusiasts seem to.

Just got my Tullamore dew 'Buena Vista' delivered by a friend who had it
delivered from the famous pub/restaurant of the same name on Fisherman's
Wharf. $28 for a 1 litre bottle with the equivalent 1 litre Standard Tullamore
dew costing 41 Euro @ Tesco's. No attempt at a rip-off in that establishment.
The quantities they use every year in Irish Coffees are quite astonishing and
they have been doing it since 1952.

I picked up one of the new single cask Powers for Dublin Airport. Expensive, but it's the heavier pot still distillate.

I'd say that's unlikely. If there's any left next time I go though, I can get one for you but postage to the US is a problem.

The label reads...

Powers Aviation Release is a single cask offering, typical of the heavy pot still style of the 1940s. It was matured in an American oak cask to accentuate the spicy robust flavour that is synonymous with Powers. Our master blender has carefully chosen this cask in celebration of Dublin Airport's 75th anniversary.

Cask Number 83785

Will try and pick up a bottle.

I wish I could get my hands on a couple of bottles of this. I know lots of members are fans of the trad pot style and this is described as heavy.

Powers has had a good shake up in recent years. I replenished my John's Lane stock.

It's been a while so said I'd check back in. Went on a bit of a splurge (by my own standards) over the last month while travelling through duty free shops.. Have only opened one of these so far, the Auchentoshan heartwood. Very disappointed in it and in my opinion a poor offering. I normally don't purchase bottles in excess of 80 euro but I picked up the Dair Gheaalach as it its from batch number 1 and that appealed to my ego :-)

Last night I tried for the first time 3 of Teelings offerings. They were in a "Trinity" pack at the airport, contained a single grain finished in wine casks/small batch finished in rum casks & a single malt. Small batch was my favourite and I think these minature packs are a great way for people to try your product.

Till next time.

Jameson Caskmates just appeared here in Minnesota so I picked up a bottle. I'm liking it enough that I'll be making a special trip back to the source for a few more.
