What's your latest whiskey purchase?

Let's talk whiskey.

Was in Aldi the other day and spotted a stray bottle of their Glen Marnoch 24 year old from last Christmas.

I passed it up then as there was not many great comments about it but on review there are some ok reviews.

A lot saying very drinkable, will not blow your mind but worth the money so I decided to nab it.

And at €40 it is hard to pass up especially they way Irish whiskey prices have gone this last few years

Will give a basic review when I get around to opening it.

Hi Whiskeybro,
It was just over €52 which is excellent, in my view anyway!

Hanyu Joker, the colour one. Was looking for it for a while. And a few Littlemills. The older Littlemills are a real treat.

Tullamore Phoenix which is a bargain cask strength whiskey at €50 in Travel Retail.

And a Paddy Centenary again from travel retail for €67.

I notice that there are fewer and fewer bargains in travel Retail these days and some are actually dearer than high street prices.

Was very tempted to get a Powers Johns Lane @ €53 which I think is good compared to it's current rrp.

I recently picked up a Kavalan sherry cask. A bit expensive for such a young whisky, but it's supposed to be superb.

I also recently bought an Amrut single cask for Europe... and a Benriach 10th anniversary. Master of Malt's Boutique FEW... and a Macallan 25.

I am going to try to stop buying stuff now.

Hi John,
It's €100 from Foxes (beside the museum), the museum can't sell at the moment apparently.
I had a taste and thought it was good, nice finish.
Cheers,
J.

I got a case of Caskmates for future tastings just in case they disappear. I'm hoping to have a bottle for myself too. I also got some Redbreast from the 70's and some Hewitts. These will work well with future tasting too. I'm going to try get some more Paddy and Powers now. The futures bright, the futures Amber.

Nice haul there in fairness though, I enjoyed the Caskmates release when I had it.

Nice find John. Only just now realised that they have some decently aged Irish single malts. Have you tried anything else from their range?

Got a few of the Redbreasts too... Thanks for heads-up, IWC.

John, I have had a good few from Whisky Doris, but never from this particular range. Not sure I've had any Irish stuff bottled by them either, but I could be wrong.

She does some nice bottlings.

Two bottles of 'Mano a Lámh' also. Looking forward to that delivery! Just out of interest, what shipping charge did you pay?

€16 for shipping. Sounds a lot all right but just going by price it is possibly comming through AnPost (registered). I'm happy to pay it at the same time though.

I actually haven't been this excited about recieving a bottle of Irish Whiskey since I discovered the original Redbreast 15yo being sold in La maison Du Whisky.
