Nice job on the Powers. Would love to try it someday.

There's always seems to be one or two bottles in each auction that seem to go wild on price. That crested ten was double the price of the last one on the site. You would have thought half that price, no?

Which eBay site? I assume it was the French site. They don't allow alcohol sales in Ireland and the UK. They fear that kids will be able to buy it. Can you imagine a kid spending €1010 on a bottle of whiskey?

Last months whiskyauction.co.uk had a few Irish whiskeys

Knappogue 1993 £34

Tyrconnell Port finish £30

Marconi Jameson £74

Jameson Gold old Bottle £57

When you factor in the exchange rate and post there was no value here. The Tyrconnell was ok I guess.

The last whiskyauction.com has a good selection of Irish on it.

3 bottle of Bushmills got €40 each,

Powers blend from 70/80's €29-52

Powers 15 year old €222 & €252

Lockes €13-26

Various Jamesons €12-40

Paddy Centenary Limited Edition €95

The stand out lot was a Midleton 26 Year old, it got €852.

I got a few bourbons but was lucky to get the Lockes for €12,

Purcells had 4 miniature bottles of Prestons, they got €200. I think that would be €57+/- all in each.

Here's a picture Image

A select few results from the last whiskyauction.com

Powers Pot Still 60's €122 , I got this gem at a good price I believe.

Paddy Whisky 10 year old €150, I was suprised at this getting so much. I would have guessed about the same as the Powers.

Powers 15 year old €237 these are creeping back up in price in the last few months. I was lucky getting one for €192 a while back. Mine is nearly gone now.

Tullamore DEW brown bottle with cream label €122
Image Another one that went for more than I expected.

Writers Tears Cask Strength €48 probably the bargain of the auction. Well done who ever got it.

I have no doubt that no more than the Horse Sales at Goffs that
a 'Puffer' or 'puffers' are sometimes at work. Online it is always
impossible to tell but the suspicion has crossed my mind occasionally.
Where I suspect one is at work I stand back & let them off :!:

There's a real rarity on McTears next auction.

McConnell's Pure Pot Still
Image

The estimate is sure to make the national papers. £10000-14000.

I'll pass on this one I think. I'm still paying for my lobotomy.

I didn't see any result on this. I was not looking at the auction but from what I gathered it didn't get any bids. They were looking for an opening bid of £5000.

Whisky-online Auction ended this evening but I didn't see any interesting Irish whiskeys.

I had a look over the archive and found thisImage it sold for £430 in the May auction,

Here's one that sold for £30 in March.

I wish I'd kept all of mine now. I've only the one left.

Whisky Auction.com Auction that ended tonight had a bottle of fairly ordinary Jameson
that just went for 425 Euros. Different type of bottle but regular Jameson from the Midleton
Distillery. That certainly was the one that stood out for me tonight.

I was amazed with that. I never seen that type of bottle used and thought the colour was very dark. Has anyone got similar examples?

There was a Midleton Single Cask from the Whisky Exchange which got €261.

Teeling Whiskey Vintage Reserve got €152.

An old brown bottle Tullamore DEW got €72

There was a few bargains to be had,

Bushmills 10 Year Old Malt from €21,
a 16 for €42,
1980's Jameson from €12.
Paddy's from €7.

Scottish Whisky auctions finished today.

Old Irish Gold 15 year old got £280
This is their description ''A German bottling of old Dublin whiskey. It is thought by many that these bottles were drawn from the final casks distilled at the old DWD Distillery.''

1985 Midleton Very Rare £290

Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve £180

Jameson 18 year old £85

Jameson City Edition Singapore £50, guess its cheaper than going there to get one.

Some of the prices in the auction have been surprising lately. I rarely get any because if you factor in the commission and exchange rate things can get very dear.
But if you got to have that bottle you got to have it. An example was a Jameson 15 PPS got £420 a couple of months ago.

There was a few bottles on this months Scotch Whisky auction.

80's Jameson got £20

Jameson Marconi, 1ltr Jameson & Crested 10 got £105

Jameson Gold (with box) got £50

Lockes & Jameson Gold (without box) got £60

Jameson 350ml & Tullamore crock got £25

2005 Midleton got £125

1999 Midleton got £135

Bushmills 10 got £15

3 bottles ofBushmills Original 1gift pack got £40

Tyrconnell & French labeled Irish whiskey gift packs got £30
Image

Lockes 8, Power 1ltr & Dunvilles old Irish got £55
Image

I think some of these prices are high if your buying outside the UK. An example is the Jameson gold which got £50 then there's the Commission & VAT of £6 and postage of £24. That's £80 or €100. I got some bottles over the years but rarely see value. Getting extra bottles to reduced the postage cost isn't always a good idea.

They can keep the bottles you win for three months free of charge... so you can consolidate orders for postage that way. Of course you never know what's going to be in the forthcoming auctions.

I didn't know that. I guess you could end up buying bottles you don't really want just to save postage.

I don't think it got a bid. There was a high reserve and this wasn't met.

I found this on Adverts.ie

48 year old lockes single malt whiskey boxed with certificate

Beautiful presented boxed limited edition lockes single malt whiskey from 1966.
Dated certificate included.
Fabulous gift for a discerning whiskey drinker.
Presented in fabulous wooden limited edition box.
1 of 5000.
Almost 50 years old.

Here'sa link but it's in breach of the sites T&C's so it'll be taking down soon.

It's not really 48 years old as the seller thinks. The cert was signed by John Teeling, dated 17/1/06. the seller mistook the 06 as 66.

The devils in the detail but it's worth noting. I pointed it out on the site just in case someone got it for an anniversary and ended up with egg on their face.

The seller was selling it for €180. It appears to be sold for €150. The buyer would have seen the post about the age, I hope!
