I would encourage members to keep an eye out for deals over the next week and at Whiskey Live where there are usually some deals on offer!

€2, but I'm still not happy about it. They went up €2 last December too.

Just to be pedantic ... the announcement was 10 cents of duty per measure of regular spirits. (i.e. at 40% abv)

1 measure = 35.5ml

1 bottle = 700ml .

Therefore 19.7 measures in a bottle. Duty payable €1.97 however vat has to be added too so 23% on top again :( .

so €2.43 extra ;)

Will be interesting to see what is actually added.

They shouldn't announce it like that because it's misleading. Duty is now €42.57 per litre of pure alcohol. I have run through the calculations, taking VAT into account, on my blog:

http://www.liquidirish.com/2013/10/drin ... untry.html

When the Minister mentioned 10c, he included the extra VAT. So the rise is just under €2 per bottle.

I seen the same in Tescos earlier. Regular Jameson was €27 or 2 for €40. Good value.

Someone just told me Jameson was €17, Baileys is €9.50. I wouldn't buy a bottle of Baileys if it was €1.

Pettitts in St.Aidans Wexford have 2 old bottles of Tyrconnell Pure Pot Still, 5 star for €34.99.
I think this is an appreciating classic.
