Tullamore dew 8 year

I'm looking for some help researching my Tullamore Dew crock. It was bought at the amsterdame airport in late 50s. the crock states it is a 8 year blend.

When you have a moment 'UDR', please take some time to introduce yourself and perhaps even explain your username?

Welcome to the forum,

Can you upload a photo? If it's late 50's and 8 year old, I thought they would be doing Pot Still then.

Its certainly sounds interesting.

There was a bottled 8-year-old that was a blend anyway.

A nice bit of history but I fear not very valuable.

A picture will show whether it was a Tullamore product (most likely if bottled in the 50's)or a Dublin blend.

Hi,
First time I have seen the 8 yr. old crock. At the back it mentions 'by D.E.Williams for the Tullamore Distillery'.
I would be almost 100 per cent sure it is not from the Tullamore years and not from Midleton --- John's Lane
period whiskey most likely . The answer may lie in the small pamphlet attached. Sometimes this refers to 'water
from the Vartry River' which supplied the Power's Distillery at John's Lane. Lovely find.

I've one from the Dublin era and it mentions Tullamore DEW whiskey company Dublin.

I think that UDR's one is much older and may be distilled in Tullamore.

Though you may be right I disagree for now.The Orange ribbon used and the type of little pamphlet
are the type used at the time it was made in John's Lane. Again I think the answer may lie
in the little pamphlet. If it is late 50's as UDR says it could be Tullamore as it took quite some
years to sell off old stock the bulk of which did go to the U.S. It certainly is the 1829 date for
Tullamore which is on the front. I have a few as well from John's Lane but not in a position to check
at the moment. I will say though I have never seen an 8yr.old from the John's Lane period --the regular
and a 12yr. old ok but not an 8.Time will tell ! Always good to tease things out. :)
