Any predictions on which Irish Whiskeys Mr Murray will review this year?

He's supposed to have retasted as much of the range as possible.

I guess the main points of interest to us will be what he makes of Yellow Spot and Redbreast 12 Cask Strength, as well as the updated editions of Green Sport and Redbreast 15.

He may well have tried some of the new Tyrconnell and Connemara finishes (Anime Negra, Amontillado etc.)

congratulations alex! sorry about the lapse in recognition. Thanks for the link to the awards Luke. Anyone notice that there are substantially more Irish categories than there once were? Glad to see that, whatever you think of Yellow Spot, there are enough SPS whiskeys out there that they've got their own category, as do Irish single cask expressions.

I would have given YS more, problem is I can't find my notes. I think It was about 93? More is on the way so I'll take a second look eventually. I certainly wouldn't be so generous with bog-standard Jamesons.

I think 88.5 is a ridiculously low score for such a fine whiskey, especially considering the scores given to what I would consider mediocre British whiskeys. To be honest the whole categorisation system is becoming a bit of a farce also. I reckon I'll stick with my own notes!

I think 2014 is out next week. We might all disagree with his views and self belief but I bet a lot of us will buy it. Amy thoughts on Irish whiskey of the year - I'm betting powers JL again.

And for world I guess something from buffalo trace or Ardbeg.
