News of WhiskyLive

Postby Good Whiskey Hunting » Sun Sep 22, 2013 1:36 am

Has anyone news on whisky live.
How many new Irish whiskeys will be unveiled?
I'm assuming Redbreast 21, the new Powers, probably a Spot.
Will the Paddy SPS be a one off?
Will Writers Tears/Irishman have a new offering or 2.
Will Bushmills bother and turn up?
What have Teelings brewing?

Perhaps Paddy "Devil's Apple" and "Bee Sting"? (http://lukasliquorstl.com/tag/paddy-devils-apple/)

Will Writers Tears/Irishman have a new offering or 2.

They have already announced their Irishman 12yo single malt and Writers Tears Cask Strength 2013.

Will Bushmills bother and turn up?

I met a local Diageo guy who said Bushmills would be represented.

What have Teelings brewing?

They could always surprise us but they have flagged a couple of their upcoming releases: 25yo and 30yo single malts. And our own blend :) But I don't know if we'll see any at Whisky Live.

Will there be an international contingent as well? A few Scottish, American or Japanese whiskies?

Wondering if its worth the €30 for a couple of hours

Worth every cent. There'll be plenty from America, Scotland. I'd love if some Japanese were there too but who knows.

What is the difference between "VIP Evening Ticket A" and "VIP Evening Ticket B"?

Anyone?

Hi Luke,
Apologies for the late reply, I'm in the same boat. There just seems to be very little information surrounding the show and any whiskey-week events in general. Maybe if a member has any details they might throw them up on the site somewhere?

do to high demand for VIP tickets, there will be 2 VIP masterclasses before the start of the general admission

same whiskeys, different presenters in 2 rooms

so makes no difference which one you go for, you be drinking the same good whiskey

A good day for all involved.
There were some great whiskeys on display. Very hard to see all exhibitors and try to keep sober. My only gripe was the lack of Bushmills participating, but that has become a norm at this stage. I say no more.

Well done guys on the society stand.

Anything interesting from cooley?

And anyone have opinions on redbreast 21, as in is it special enough to have such a price tag?

I didn't see anything from Cooley that I wasn't familiar with. I got a nice sample of the Kilbeggan 18. I assume they will have older in time too. I was distracted by some of the Beam bourbons.

The Redbreast 21 is excellent. The price is steep but if you were to compare it with say Jameson RVR it looked like good value. I know it's not like for like. I can only imagine the work that is involved in trying to balance the various pot still whiskeys in there.

On another note, my personal highlight was trying a sample of the Malaga component of Yellow Spot. What a beast of a whiskey! I think the particular one I tried was 14 year old.

I would like to have tried the Teeling's 26 year old but time was not on my side.

Allteck has some interesting products too. I really was surprised by their Bourbon. The beer was very nice too. I'm looking forward to see what they will have for us in the future.

The big disappointment was the absence of Bushmills, but sin scéal eile.

I finally posted my own recollections of the event:

http://www.liquidirish.com/2013/10/whis ... -2013.html

Cooley had lots of their bottles there, but nothing new. Not there, but on the way, is a 12yo single malt (a Kilbeggan, rather than Tyrconnell).
