Caol Ila no longer exported to the US?

Let's talk whiskey.

Caol Ila no longer exported to the US?

Just read an article stating that Caol Ila is no longer exported to the US - is this true? :geek:

[TWIMC: This a "Diageo-watching" query :ugeek: ]

it'd be a strange move alright. As it stands it's very easy to get stateside and generally promoted as part of their Classic Malts series. That being said I know something like a whopping 90% of what they make there goes into the peating element for Diageo blends and its never had quite the same following that Lagavulin has had stateside so who knows

More stock for a push on sales of Johnnie Walker Double Black no doubt (Mortlach/Caol Ila/Grain).

On a darker note (pun unintended) this might explain Mortlach's single official bottling on the shelves :(

On that note, you can get the Mortlach 1997 Manager's Choice for 130 euro at whiskysite.nl. It's expensive, but a good price compared to the original release price. It probably wouldn't interest me, but if anyone's a big Mortlach fan...
