You can get a Port Ellen for less, or in other words: "what else does it do."

AFAIK most Port Ellen Single Malts are blends from a number of casks for that particular Single Malt name type, where as this Midleton is a single cask blend. It beggars belief how Midleton can do single casks, is it worth their while? I think they have 800,000 casks.

It has to be worth their while or they would'nt be doing it ! Prior to the
first CWS single cask for Christmas 2008 Midleton had done very few
Single Cask bottlings at least that I know of ????

At this point I find the contrary, most are singles from independents. I think the problem is they have a monopoly on well aged pot still.
