The label on the 7 year old could be older than that as I'm not sure if
'By Appointment to the King' was still being used on labels coming out
of Dublin in the 30's or 40's

Full collection of Midleton Very rare going on auction at Mealys on
Dec. 11th/12th. next. . Estimate given of 10 to 12 K. Will be interesting
one to watch as I think it is the first time in years that a full line up
of bottles from 1984 to 2012 has gone up for auction. Some other items
in sale as well aq Knappogue 36, Jameson 15's etc.

I rang to see if the Midleton went. It didn't meet its reserve. I don't know what the others made.

I seen this earlier and was curious, I'd have some reservations when I see the cork floating on the top.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/OLD-IRISH-WHISKE ... 500wt_1207

I been looking for one for a while but still think i could get one at a better price.

I was doing a quick ebay search and noticed someone selling their old and dirty Jameson wax jacket.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jameson-Irish ... 25794d1281

Auction starts at £0.01 but international postage is £500  ,
but there's a reason for this and I quote,

Postage and Packaging.
Unfortunately we are not allowed by our landlord to sell small items from our door. Our nearest post office for posting is over 2 miles away , meaning a 4 mile return journey taking up to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic and then there is car parking to be paid for as well. There is also the time involved in placing the advert, responding to enquiries and packaging the item for safe delivery.Unfortunately i have had to change to a more expensive courier due to an item being broken by my previous courier. This new courier practically garauntees safe delivery but the downside is that they are way more expensive. There is also a .25 p charge per item towards the cost of taking out an insurance policy which covers us for losses caused by for fraudulent buyers. So when we decide the postage and packaging costs we also have to factor in these costs as well. Not to mention the large charges that ebay and paypal impose .When you add all these costs together other people make more money from the sale of the item than i do.When you take all this in to account i find that £4.00 to cover all these costs to be quite reasonable for mainland UK destinations. For non UK destinations i just picked £500 to cover all the other countries in the world. If you are from outside the UK and are interested in bidding on the item, please contact us before you start bidding and we will give you an accurate price for postage to your country.
Please Please read our advert carefully.

Some notable result from whiskyauction.com earlier today.

Greenore
15 year old- €122
An appreciating classic?

Jameson
15 years old- €182
Great value I think. I was drinking it in Dingle yesterday.

John Jameson & Son
7 years old- €305
I'm still looking for the other version of it but not at this price.

Midleton
Very Rare Irish Whiskey
b.2005- €277

Redbreast
12 years old from 1980's- €219
A real surprise. I guess they're worth more than I thought.
We will be trying one in March's tasting.

Writers Tears
Cask Strength
b.2012 - €93
Probably good value as it's €120 here to my knowledge.

There's some real gems in this months auction,

Here's a sample

Wm. Cadenhead , Bow Street Distillery.
This is the one the couldn't spell Jameson's correctly on, but a collector all the same.

Greenore 10 year old.

Hennessy Na-Geanna ,
A similar one to this went for €500+ the last time it was available.

Old Comber 30 year old.

to name but a few.

I think it sold for a penny. Missed out there Z.

Has anyone noticed there are very few bottles for sale on eBay lately!
Is this a coincidence or has there been some changes in regulations?

I know some sellers have had problems with their listings one chap was trying to sell a couple old bottles of 1780 and had a fight with ebay. They were listed and taken down twice in DEC.

New rules on ebay. Bottles now have to be over 20 years to sell now. Bottled over 20 years ago, that is. Different rules for the europe though.

Some results from whiskyauctions.com

Wm. Cadenhead , Bow Street Distillery, 27 year old Jameson.
€762

Greenore 10 year old.
€112

Greenspot old style bottling
€66

Hennessy Na-Geanna,
€217 A hell of a lot cheaper than the €500 the last one went for.

Jameson RVR
€252,

Jameson Marconi
€82 , I think this was reasonable considering the old Jameson Gold bottle went for €88

Jameson Distillery Collection
The Horse €52
The Cooperage €42
I got these and am very happy as I expected to pay a lot more. :D :D

Midleton
1985 (no Invite) €225
1994 €155, very good value.

Redbreast 12 year old from Fitzgerald & Co.
€155, cheaper than the last one that got €180 or so. I got one last week for about €60 including postage so I'm happy with my purchase.

Bushmills Millennium malt
€101, cheaper than the one on donedeal for €500.

Bushmills Single cask Distillers Reserve.
€198

Old Comber PPS 30 year old
€240. Great value. Congratulations who ever got it.

I've made that mistake one or twice. I never know why I do it. I have got good restraint in the last few years. I have my max and stick to it.
I had an early bid of €175 on the Hennessy and was out bid early enough. I have one but another one always looks better.
