All-Ireland Hurling Final 2012!

Postby John » Sat Sep 08, 2012 11:24 pm

Looking forward to a great game tomorrow! Two very strong teams; though naturally I hope the Cats will prevail! Sorry Galway members (or members who live in Galway (Aido!)).

Kilkenny have enough titles in recent years, John. I'll be cheering on the Leinster champions this time around.

A game of two halves.
I found myself shouting for our(Wexford's) old rivals Kilkenny.
Really looking forward to the 30th for the replay.

Camogie final next week. Let's hope for another good one.

JohnM - Treachery!! A world of titles is never enough! Too much megalomania?! Ok I'll tone it down a bit!
Great game indeed GWH, I reckon the ref made some poor decisions, but both teams displayed a tenacity which in part characterises All-Ireland Champions. I, for one, can't wait for the replay. Bring it on Galway!

My father is from Kilkenny and my Children are from Galway so a hard one for me to choose but went for the Tribes men on the same pretence as JohnM. Obviously we can't hand out titles as we see fit but I think Galway have shown that they have the appetite as well as the skill to match Kilkenny. Yesterdays match was not a brilliant match but it was no where near a bad match either. Basically a great contest played both hard and passionate. It certainly was an edgy game which added to the whole excitement of the game.

I actually thought the ref had an okay game compared to say the Kilkenny Tipp match which turned into a circus and all because the ref was letting the game "flow". The ref pulled up on a good few things which I thought were not frees but on replay were clearly right decisions. The Cats could have been forgiven for thinking he was giving everything against them in the first half but but it is easy to forget that Galway were pretty much first to the ball every time in the first half and such play inevitably leads to the opposition committing more fouls as they try harder to get a foot hold into the game. Fair play to Kilkenny though as they did not capitulate like another team could have and kept Galway with in distance and the second half we saw King Henry take centre stage and it was a wonderful battle between the two marks men. I'd love to see him get a 9th but I think he should wait till next year ;-)

Great game looking forward to the 30th also

Up Galway :P

Wexford win 3 in a row in the camogie. Excellent final. There will be whiskey drank in Wexford over the next weeks, by me at least. :D

Saw on the news that there seemed to be a great turn out for them which is only right. All praise to the model county girls.

On a slight deviation ... Why is Radford called the model county ???

North Kerry have some strong hurling clubs. Paul Galvin is reputed to be handy with a stick when not on the catwalk or playing with the big ball. He's from Lixnaw I think which is near Listowel.

Did I mention Wexford won the Camogie again.

I still behind my neighbours in Kilkenny, but won't be too upset if Galway win.
Looking forward to the replay.
Hopefully it's as good as the Camogie.

One of those new ones up by Queens county I think.

I think the Model come from Wexford's farming techniques been used as role models or something like that.

I most say that youtube is nothing but brilliant. I have avoiding to find out the results and to night I watched the game (and had a few Redbreast, Contarf and will end now with a Connemara). I haven't seen a hurling game since 2001 so it was about time. I must say it was a great game, just feel sorry for Galway not winning but it doesn't really disappoint me as there know will be one more game.

Another great game! The 2012 hurling season really stands out in my mind as one of the best in recent years. I have to say that Cody has nerves of steel!; bringing on Walter Walsh - from a Junior side in KK - for his Championship debut!! Paid off though and in fairness to the young hurler, he played very well! Great to see that the natural order has been restored!
