Let's talk whiskey.

I just finished a bottle of...

Postby Pudge72 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:19 pm

Hi all...didn't see this type of topic elsewhere. If I missed a thread, please re-direct this to that thread. To finish the sentence...

Auchentoshan 12. This was the first bottle of whisky that my wife purchased for me in April, 2011. I enjoyed this one very much, finding that it hit its' stride after the bottle had been open for about 6-8 months.

Strathisla 12. Opened May, 2011. Enjoyable, but not quite interesting enough to devote $$$ to purchasing another bottle in the future.

Finished a few low revellers of late ... Jameson 18yo a 20cl Johnny Walker blue.

Tonight Tullamore Black 43 bit the dust which is possibly their best blend but alas no more :(

Highland Park 12 left the cabinet last night, after I had waited for the original purchaser (and gifter) of the bottle to visit my wife and I after the move that necessitated the gifting of the bottle to me in the first place. The HP 12 was a bottle that really opened up after about 4-5 months after my initial impressions led to wondering what the big deal was about its' reputation as a good 'all-around' value bottle. Quite enjoyable...it will likely make it back into my cabinet at some point, though there are quite a few bottles on ye olde wishlist that I would like to get to first...

Have a real bad cough at the moment, and the best medicine for that is a Hot Whiskey. Just finished a bottle of Powers NAS. My favorite for a Hot one.
I also like it with Paddy and Jameson, but the Powers is the best.

Jameson Gold Reserve. I love the virgin wood. Opulent and complex is a great description.

Welcome Hugh,
That's quite a productive weekend. I looking at the bottom of another bottle of Power's John's lane. If you haven't tried it yet I recommend it.

I really think that IDL could sell this with a money back guarantee.

It needs to come in bigger bottles, these little ones never seem to last beyond the first evening.

I'm ordering it by the case now. I recommend it to so many people that they ask me to get a bottle. Last Thursday I was in Dublin I got 5 bottles and now I've none. I should really be making money for my efforts, or at least a free bottle ;) .

Whenever I order something from the UK or Ireland I always add a bottle of it to the order, even if the the order is a bottle of John's lane to start with! :D

I know what you mean. If I bid on a bottle in an auction I usually end up with 2 to get better value for my postage cost.

Yet another PJL bits the dust. It only lasted 4 days. The Christmas spirit is certainly flowing.

Has a second batch of PJL been released or are we still on the first? It's been massively popular so I wonder is there much left through the usual channels?

Another bottle of Redbreast down. The problem is I can drink one in a single sitting. I try not to, but it does happen. I blame Irish Distillers. :D

A bottle of Benylin and hopefully I be able to get back to my precious Power's Johns Lane before it evaporates.
