Insependents are the way to go with Port Ellen. I think all this Diageo release will be sold out in double-quick time though.

Actually, keep an eye out for Old Bothwell releases of Port Ellen casks. They're as cheap as 150 euro...

Diageo are clearly trying to get the maximum revenue for what is left of very old and in some cases, tired, stocks. Good luck to anyone who wants to splash out though!

They bought back some casks from independents so they must be short on stock.

Yeah, that sounds like Diageo's "commitment to stock management" all right...

When the exchange rate was a bit more favourable this wasn't a bad way to buy OB Port Ellen:

I like 200ml bottles when I can get them for the one's I drink regularly. I always exclude these from my open bottle count. (It makes me feel better anyway.)

Yes that's a great set but I used to count it as one bottle ;) . They were even better when they were sub £90 8-) However I stopped on the one with the 6th release which I found very disappointing and the price was heading over £100.

Yeah it's about 2 years since I bought a set. I had previously bought 2 or 3 sets - at the time it was a handy way of getting a few different whiskies together without spendign too much or taking up too much space. And I think at under £90 and with the exchange rate at the time it was fairly good value, particularly with the Port Ellen.
