That made £231.55 just over €300 I think.
I would have liked to get it but my budget has been cut lately.

Here's an interesting find on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-PROHIBI ... 3cc9c2b356

I don't think it's legit but interesting all the same.

I was reading that description and didn't see how it related to the bottle in the photo.

I can see how Irish whiskey got it's name tarnished during prohibition if they were filling Irish Pot Still whiskey with Sour Mash Jack

That not the only thing that's puzzling, I'll be keeping my barge pole in storage for another while I think.

Kurt, he has all those bottles, needs 84, 87,88,89 midletons but hes in no rush he told me. He will only pay 300-400 for each bottle, bit of a miser I think!

Wise man more like and the right way to do it. He should be able to pick up a 1984 fairly handy enough as they are always popping up. The hard ones are the 87-89.

Here's some results from last whiskyauction.com

WD014
John Jameson & Son 7 years old
€157
It was very cheap but had a damaged capsule.

WD015
John Jameson Dublin Whisky
This is the one I had reservations about because I'd only seen the hexagonal bottle used for 12 year old Jameson.
€217
A very good price I think.

WD016
John Jameson Irish Whiskey JJ 588226^6
Standard 70/80's bottle went for €56
I was buying them for under €20 a few years back. I wonder if the empty bottles would be worth anything.

WD024
Old Bushmills 9 years old
€91

WD025
Old Comber 30 years old
€322

It's worth checking this months selection of Jamesons. By the look of things I wont be getting any bargains if I bid.

McTears 19th September

MIDLETON VERY RARE 1999
Lot: 554 | Estimate: £80 - £120

THOMSON'S 10 YEAR OLD Irish Whiskey
Lot: 663 | Estimate: £300 - £400

JAMESON 12 YEAR OLD DISTILLERY RESERVE (and 2 regular Jemies)
Lot: 688 | Estimate: £40 - £60

Bushmills 10yo plus 5 other various bottles.
Lot: 809 | Estimate: £40 - £60

Jameson 1980's plus 3 others
Lot: 818 | Estimate: £60 - £80

Bushmills With & Blackbush plus 3 others
Lot: 920 | Estimate: £40 - £60

Jamoeson 12yo & Bushmills 10yo plus 3 others
Lot: 923 | Estimate: £40 - £60

Bushmills Miniature Tin and classic malts of scotland collection
Lot: 929 | Estimate: £20 - £30

The only lots of note are the first 2 really and I have some serious reservations on the Thomsons unless I could have a closer look at the seal which appears to be wrapped by white tape. Given their recent history on certain bottles I'd be very careful about it. Any one any opinions?

I filled in the results in italic for anyone interested. A few very good value lots there. The Thomsons was the lot of interest here I think, I knew nothing about it and was curious was it would fetch.

I seen this at an auction today
http://www.clevedon-salerooms.com

lot. 687
Irish Whiskey/Cognac - John Jameson & Son, one bottle numbered C267491, circa 1940 together with a bottle of E. Cusenier & Co Cognac (2)

Image

I put a commission bid in for it but there was plenty of interest. I was hoping it would be less than £200 because postage and packaging would come to £70 I'm told.

It sold for £220 for the 2. As I have no interest in or knowledge of Brandy I gave it a miss.

My search continues for this bottle. :(

Probably I should increase my budget.

I seen that. Celtic Whiskey Shop has another at a premium price too. I don't know where their getting the price from but good luck to them if they can sell them.

I remember The Whisky Exchange had Dungourney 1964 for £1200 a couple of years ago too and they've shaved £500 of the asking now.

A bargin!

I find it amazing that they ask more for Dunville's VR than Three Crowns, and that the Three Crowns price is the same that Nun's island was! There is no shortage of Dunville's on the market, but Perrse's is rarer than hen's teeth. I got both of mine for much, much less and they are in comparable condition.

Is your only requirment 7 year old PPS, or is it more than that?

It's only to add to my collection of Jameson's. I've lots of different 12 year old from over the years. I have one 12 year old that had a similar style label to this but it was out in the 60's I believe.

I noticed a few variations to the 7 year old. The one pictured is late 30's early 40's I think. The one with Pot Still on the label came after that in the 50's. Then they had a label similar to the older one but i believe they were using a blend by that time. I'm only guessing here and welcome any knowledge on it.

I know they're lots of them out there and I'll get one at a reasonable price soon enough I hope.

I agree with your assesment. TWE has a post "Pot Still" one as well, for stupid money. I had a line on a +/-1960 "Pot Still" one in a brown bottle that was duty free from Shannon Aeroport, but US ebay closed the auction down as part of a crack-down on booze sales. It was on that bottle's back lable I saw that wheat was in the mash bill. Items still sneak through though, like my "Royal Shannon."
