There is not much out there 'JakeDPR'. Check some of the large retailer websites (i.e. Binny's in IL, K&L Wines and Beltramo's in CA) to see what is available. I was fortunate enough to get a bottle of Yamazaki 18 from Binny's in early May for $90, which is a very good price for that bottle.

If you can get to Maryland, their county liquor store system is quite well priced...for example, Montgomery County:

Though their Yamazaki 18 is more expensive than Binny's...it would appear that their Japanese whisky selection is limited to Yamazaki 12 & 18 (though you should use the product name search if you have something specific in mind to check).

I'm having a nice large Yellow Spot. I'm washing it down with a chilled bottle of Young's Bitter. It's a great combination.

I'll be putting it forward if we ever do a Whiskey & Beer tasting.

I enjoyed a lovely George T Stagg (2011). At 71.3% this one requires water. I found that a 4:1 whiskey:water ratio does the trick of simmering down the alcohol, while really bringing the excellent profile to the forefront. yum!!

Drank couple of drams of Golden Irish whiskey fom Dunnes Stores at the weekend some sting off it, burning metal tasting assault on the taste buds, worst whiskey I have tasted this year, 4/10.

You hit the nail on the head their Chaser! In the same league as Lidil Dundalgan, I'll be drinking my open bottle of Bushmills 10 yr single malt which is excellent.

On Sunday night, I kicked back to watch the first two episodes of "Copper" on Showcase, here in Canada (see the movie/TV thread for more about the show). To get in the 'spirit' of the shows characters and settings, I had a drink of Redbreast 12, followed by the Old Potrero 18th Century (yes, the whisky "pre-dates" the show by a good 65 years) Style Rye whiskey. Both awesome, and fitting, for the show.

Last night had an over night stay in Sligo so in the Hotel bar had a Wild Turkey which even though quite sweet I enjoyed and went quite well with a Guinness. I had a Royal Canadian which was much lighter and even though reminded me of a very light pot still blend in ways did not have the umph to make it stand out in any way. Very drinkable but verging on bland.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Much better but still not a major boat floater. Taste buds definitely not in sync these days.

Maybe you don't like whiskey anymore. Why not pour yourself a little sherry and think back to the days when you were cool and still liked whiskey.

Yeah I always thought Tulla Black went well with stout - it would've been great to see it marketed to pubs.
