They're going back to all sherry matured whisky and doing away with most of the age statements.

Wow, I wonder if that is the biggest pull back in Scotch Whisky history .... They really suffered over the Fine oak debacle and by the sounds of it it did not improve with perseverance ... just goes to show what a bit of consumer power can do ...

I wonder will it be all sherry matured though ... Bourbon could still be used to fill some sherry if you know what I mean ...

One of the strangers things I've heard about whisky... they first picked a colour they wanted and worked backwards... Sounds mad.

The 18 yr old will be retained.

It also doesn't help Macallan's cause if their pricing is as atrocious in the rest of the world, as it is in Ontario (Can$250 for Mac 18!! For reference, Highland Park 18 is $140, Laphroaig 18 is $180, and Jameson's 18 is $110.)

I have quickly come to the conclusion that Macallan is the Sony or Honda of the whisky world...you are paying a massive premium for the perceived quality inherent in the name brand, but the quality that is there (and some is there), is not worth the premium paid.
The wishlist is always growing...
