...but, "bottled at the traditional Talisker strength of 45.8% ABV"?

The previous bottlings were at cask strength of about 54% ABV.

The degradation of Diageo's brands continues apace.

45.8% gets to be 'cask strength' now? this must be from the same source book that talks about the isle of skye as a traditional scottish whisky region. sad state of affairs

I don't think anyone claimed it was cask strength, did they? But then I can't read the labels in those pics. It seems more like they have bottled at an old-fashioned 80 proof.

Personally I'll reserve judgement till I see what price they're going to be. I notice they're now to be regularly available - if this results in a drop in price then maybe more people will get to enjoy an older Talisker. I say this as a big fan of the 25yo editions up to now, of which I've bought and drank a few.

Now if the price doesn't come down that would be a different matter. Still though, I'd like to taste them before coming to any firm conclusions.

I've bought a good few Talisker 25s for about 100 euro. They are great whiskies. At least the 2006 is.

Even though Talisker is normally still of a fairly high strength at 25-30 years it would not be unusual to have 25 of 30 year old to have natural cask strengths of under 45.8%.

I've certainly have had a few so it is not a given that cask strength would be above 50%

But it does seem that they have watered to a traditional Talisker strength of 45.8%

...45.8% ABV, probably the absolute lower limit that avoids chill filtration. Oh, and they're charging how much?
