I hope it's not a violation to the forum rules if i post a link to an ebay auction i have started myself yesterday. In case it's a violation for some reason, just delete my post.

If I'd came across it on eBay I would have posted it anyway, it is an auction watch tread all the same. Best of luck with it. If you sell it would you post up the result as a reference. It always good to know how price are going.

I'am quiet regular on Ebay, mostly the German one which allows alkohol products to be offered. What are you looking here mostly after? Just asking so i can post you from time to time something interesting when i come across ot? Ist it Bargains you are looking for? Or really rare Irish or Scottish Whiskey?

I reckon many do this already.

I would have regularly checked both German Ebay as well as German Online retailers. It is probably something that a lot of us would do as the prices would be slightly lower but youd need to be buying a few bottles at a time to make it worth while.

thanks for the offer though very thoughtful of you.

no problem, i'am a native german and so i'am familar with the german ebay. Today i have spent several hours on it and it looks real bargains are still possible. Especially for scottish whiskey, at least that's how it seemed to be today. But ok, if most of you are already watching the ebay listings than there is of course no need to do the same :-)

Are those hammer prices per bottle or the total for the two?

If a lot has 2 or more bottles in it the hammer price is for all the bottles.

Factor 15-20 commission and vat on the commission also.

From the sellers perspective the auction route could hardly be worth it then? From the buyers point if view, those prices represent really good value!

has anyone any experience of these?

The prices seen fairly reasonable but I don't know much about Scotches.
I seen Ardbeg 10 going for £35 but don't know what commission and extra charges there are!

No but think they are fairly new and looks okay. 13 auctions have now run through and I've not heard anything negative which you would imagine you'd hear before you hear positive comments.

here are the charges ...

WHAT IT COSTS

We charge a seller's premium of 10% plus £3 per lot to cover handling, photography and upload to the website and £4 for each reserved item. Buyers also pay 10%, plus postage if required, and a 3% credit card surcharge. There are no charges for debit cards, cheques ... or cash! Buyers can collect in store on receipt of your invoice.

So not sure if it would be worth it on a bottle of Ardbeg as currently Ardbeg is circa £35 anyway and you probably can get it for €45-50 here so after charges and postage not overly worth it unless your desperate for a 2005 version  .

I've used them a bit. Used to be better value, because they were charging no % commission at the begining. A few teething problems early on, but that's sorted now.

They charge the seller and the buyer, so it's not any better value now than whiskyauction.com. They don't generally get any interesting Irish whiskeys, generally.

Bottles fetch a high enough price on the webiste, but commission higher than auction houses.

I wasn't able to sell my Jameson 15 Year Old Pure Pot Still Limited Edition on ebay this time. There have been a lot of watchers but obviously the starting price of Euro 175.00 was eventually too high for selling it fast.
Now again put it on auction with a starting price of Euro 25 less.

Hi,
yes, the first link is mine and yes, i wondered about the other auction as well already. I have a feeling a friend of this one is bidding on the bottle as i even can't imagine it will sell for USD 600, but who knows.

I was shocked as well when I saw it actually got a bid... it's outrageous. Now I see there's another that's popped up for $550. Seller probably saw the bid on the first one and thought why not give it a go. I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few come out of the woodwork after this.

Not bad prices and good to see them on the up but still fairly conservative as is always the case with Irish so still some bargains to be had.

I've seen Yates Brothers pop up regularly, these are independent bottlers and would have been thousands of them around Ireland never mind the UK and further afield. There are so many possibilities in these type of bottling's that it is not unusual not to hear od these further the majority are totally un-verifiable in regards to contents so I'd not place much value in them. More like curios and some of the labels are great so nice to have. The aged ones would probably be nice to explore and taste and could well be a few gems there.
