Picked up this two to day.

I think that the two are bottled in the 1980`s.

We tasted the one on the right at our Tullamore evening last year, it was the export version bottled in the 70's/80's. Details on the tasting can be found here http://www.irishwhiskeysociety.com/even ... 2011-10-27

Some of those Ichiro's can be seriously good whiskeys. Must admit I've yet to get a Japanese whisky I have not liked

I just got a batch of Japanese whisky myself... Ircho's 9 of Clubs, 10 of Diamonds, 4 of Hearts and 6 of Spades.

And just ordered a Highland Park Thor.

And, from whiskybroker, I bought their Strathmill 1974 and Tomintoul 1968. Extremely good value. Sold out in less than a day.

John you got a bargin with the Tomintoul 1968 great investment but would find it hard not to sample at that price.

15 year old Greenore very embarrassed paying 95 euros but very hard to find.
I just purchased a 15 yo Knappogue Castle,a vatting of 1990-1992 Cooley casks, for 114 euros from California on ebay (the bottle is coming home to the country of its birth :D ) A bit more than I wanted to pay but worth it as I'm a fan of Knappogue Castle.

Snap. And just one more series of four to go after those. With rumours of an additional joker or two. ;)

Perhaps a Japanese whiskey event would be a good idea?

I'll be opening it at some stage. The Strathmill will be opened first. I tried the one on Whisky Base, which is very close in cask number, and it was really good. Very much my kind of whisky.

I have a few Karuizawas in mind, and after that my plan is to stop buying whisky. Never works out that way.

I also have a Talisker 25 ordered, but waiting on a few more whiskies to have sent together. I love the Talisker 25 - the 2006 version anyway.

I'm fortunate to have a few Karuizawas, and to have purchased them before the money got silly. I recently contacted a seller in Japan in an attempt to get hold of some Japanese releases but no luck. He wasn't optimistic about the future either. That just leaves No1 Drinks and their prices, as they are the ones holding all the stock.
