Hi,
We have a bottle of Allmans whisky, Bandon distillery, pot stilled, 10 yr guaranteed. The Allmans played a huge role in Bandon town history employing up to 200 people and benefitting farmers in the locality. The grain store is still standing. The Allmans also owned the Overton cotton mill, the ruins are still standing.
This bottle was given to my husband by his father, a few months before fils death. We have no idea when our where fil got it from. Fil was not a collector.
The bottle has been ignored in the bottom of our press for the last 10 years.
Fil was born 1923, so was just 2 yrs old when the distillery closed. Fil was a native of Bandon, his parents family owned farms around Bandon which no doubt serviced the distillery. Also, there may have been a business connection with the Allmans and dhs grandfather, which we're still investigating. However, we really have no idea, how long or where the bottle originated from.
However, all said, the whiskey is 10 yrs old and has remained unopened for almost 100 yrs (at the very least).
It's a good quality, rare bottle of whiskey.
We were advised that we should post here.
