Hi DG, where did you get the Jameson RVR 2009. That one has eluded me to date. have you tasted it against the 2007?

Love to hear your thoughts and baring that maybe you could just post up the official notes.

Hello Adrian,

Won Jameson RVR 2009 on ebay for €123 :o official notes are the same as 2007.

Never tasted anything like it before(or 2007), better than Gold but same league as Midleton VR, I am not a big fan of redbrest but it had a fruity after taste.

My brother blind tested me on some whiskey last week, got them all wrong! I have a lot to learn on tasting.

Bunahabhain 18yo ...

This is more sherried than I remembered it but certainly not overly sherried at the same time.

Lovely zing to this whiskey and a very gentle Islay. Lovely bit of spice & light pepper with the sherry sweetness.

Superb whiskey and possibly a totally under rated whiskey.

I'm not sure about the 12yo Bunny still but the 18yo is a classic

Is it the newer higher-strength Bunnahabhain 18? It's supposed to be better.

Not sure what the was or is but the one I have is 43% but certainly my first impression was that it was richer than what I had a few years ago.

Scapa 16yo - nothing to set the world alight I guess but a very pleasant and enjoyable "highland" style dram.

Yesterday I opened a newly acquired bottle of Hazelwood 110, the limited edition blend from all of Grants distilleries. (It was a birthday present.) Only had time for a small sample but my honest first impression is that is one of the finest whiskies I've vere tasted. Probably the best Scottish blend I've tried. Lovely combination of Chrismas cake and hney and surprisingly easy to drink at 55%. WOW!

I think there's about 1600 bottles given to Grants employees - my suggestion to them is don't sell it on ebay - drink the thing! It's worth it. (I admit that's not helpful to non Grants employees, and in fairness if no one ever sold theirs I wouldn't have got a bottle!)

Sounds great Iain ... they seem to be averaging circa £300stg on Ebay and now with your sagely review you've gone and put another premium on it :-( ;-)

You'd never know though keep an eye out and a bargain may pop up ...

A wee dram of Cardhu,it bring back memories of friends that introduced me to fine whiskeys/whiskys.
When i first got a taste for the stuff i was a smoker but have since given up.when i smoked i preferred the scotch i admit.
but good health and taste buds have shown me the path to our pot stills.i've tried various Scotch since but just cant seem to enjoy one as much as a good pot still.

Well I finished off Saturday night at L Mulligan Grocers and whilst there, tried and tested a few nice beers but finished off the night with :

1) Tyrconnell Whiskey Live 11 Year-Old Single Malt and
2) A Penderyn dram too ..... tho wasn't all too gone on this one ...

no age statement and tasted quite young (spirity) so glad there was some Tyrconnell left in the other glass to wash it down .. hahahahaha.

Surely not? It must be the best selling Jameson after the regular bottling ... unless they are going to change it to a non age stated offering which would be disappointing.

Master of Malt told me on twitter, and I guess they would have more know-how on this sort of thing than the general public. I hope its not true as it is a cracking whiskey for £26. Time will tell I guess

just had another bit of that Connemara Belgian Ale cask, and the more i drink it, the more i like it.

it has a fantastic, almost perfumy nose, but not much sign of peat, what i was expecting, but really have the " sugary ale" nose

a bit of flat beer taste, a bit of fizzy bite on the tongue (reminded me a bit like the pot still wash what i have sampled at Kilbeggan), but than it turns quickly to dry citrus taste, with a little peppery kick

this whiskey is really have me thinking, but i bet if anyone get a sample of this blind, will not have a slight gust of what is he drinking

it will be hard to believe

i have asked Barry Crockett, David Quinn what is their favorite whiskey, and they both said the Jameson 12 years old.

they put so much effort in to make this, and they are so proud if it, and i will be very disappointed (and surely not be the only one) if they discontinue that

i just have poured one, so slainte everyone, and i hope there be more of this, but may be in new packing :?: ;)

Scary news if true! Does anyone remember Jameson 1780 12YO? :geek: Do you remember the trauma when it was discontinued?

Hopefully this is just a rebranding - fingers crossed!
