Downes & The Moondearrig have been doing theirs for a long time and probably still doing it so are being technically as a going concern pre 1971. How authentic these bottles are no one knows as I don't think there are bottled by the Industry as they bottle their own very secret blends ... nuff said there.

There was also the 2 Gingers for The Local in the US, though they are no longer directly linked through common ownership.

Great launch event. I gave Willie a call and popped into the event that evening. The place was hopping, with good food, drink and great music - that Johnny Cash tribute band were brilliant! Had a number of chances to sample the Palace Bar 9yo SC which was very nice though I probably need a more relaxed environment to review it properly!

Btw, I really don't know what all this messing is about with 'invite only' etc. If you advertise your event here it should be open to any IWS members to attend.

I have advertised an event here as "invite only" simply because the space is limited to 60 people for the tasting and the launch (of Writers Tears, the tasting is of all their whiskeys). I have asked anyone to email and once i have rough number from locals in the pub i can then send out invites to the remainder. Previous tastings i have operated have had people just turn up and expect to join in, which can be annoying when it comes to setting up, pouring more whiskey and try to squeeze them in . I wonder what would happen if people didnt book an IWS tasting and just turned up, hmm didnt that happen and thats why a booking system was put in place?

Hi Leo, I understand that, I also appreciate that it wasn't 'your' event, cheers John.
