I have some old Bottled Whiskeys and what to find out if they have any value. Could anyone suggest where I might go to find this out.

As far as I can work out they are all early 1900's. All Bottles as sealed.

Here are Pic's of 1 or 2

Hi there Dublin User,

I've seen pictures of the White's JJS before, judging by the bottle lip and driven cork, i'd say this was 1940s.

The Powers is a little later I would say 1950s/1960s. John Egan & Son Ireland Ltd were located in 18 St Stephens Green until at least 1963 (now Anglo HQ)
The bottle is very similar to the Paddy bottle from the same period.

I'd have no idea on the HAIG Gold Label but you could try McTears or the WhiskyMag forum.

What would be helpful is a picture of the base, or if you transcribe the details. Might be able to glean a bit more info.

In term's of value it is hard to Judge but the Whites JJS 12 sadly has no foil seal which makes it worth very little,

The Powers Three Swallow again has suffered detioration of the label, in mint condition could be worth as much as €300, i'd say €150 in present condition.

Obviously with items like these value is quite subjective. Please post more details if you have them, how long in your possession, any history, details of markings on base of bottle, provenance etc all help in establishing the story.

This one says early 1900s... I think it's about 60 years out. Probably 60s or 70s.

Well spotted john, no age statement on it at all so I think your guess is spot on. Could nearly go as far as late 60's early 70's ... these would have been the last Pot Still bottlings before going to the new main stay of the Powers Gold blend. Value possibly €150-250

These are the ones that stand out.

Hennesey na Geanna € 504  now that is an amazing price. If they came to me I'd have given them one for half the price 8-)

Bushmills Artists Reserve € 422 nice price for that but not overly surprising

Bushmills Distiller's Reserve € 266

Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin 12yo Midleton € 251

The foil seal on this looks a bit suspect, anyone with a similar bottle able to verify?

Amazing prices ok. I tried in vain to get that hennessy and the Midleton 12 year old. I would have estimated they would be about €170 -€200,but somebody really wanted them and had deeper pockets.
The Midleton 26 year old made a fair price too.€1011.
I remember buying one for €590 in Germany a few years back and though i'd over paid.

Seen it before alright, Reed Wright were a UK wine and spirit merchants. Last one went for c. £165

Probably 1950s/60s, distillery unknown otherwise could be double the value.

Yes a hard one to call on ... I go with the side of minor curiosity value as it is very non de-script.

If it had at least Pure Pot Still on it I'd say something but this could easily be a blend, which unattributed to me is pretty worthless.

But that is just me.

Nice looking bottle though and would look well in a collection.

Have you noticed no one ever goes on the "What's your latest whiskey purchase" and admits to buying anything on whisky auction? A wise policy I guess.

Which one was that? (To both John and Zoltan)

Does anyone know why so much of the older Irish whiskey on this site is from the Italian market. Is there someone there with a vast stock of old Irish whiskey?

Nice one John, earlier (first?) version with the faux leather box and old Cooley logo tag signed by John Teeling (usually low number i.e.<1,000), bottles produced sometime between 1992 (first mature 3yo malt whiskey) and 1997?, after that the later versions in the wooden boxes have a scroll which is dated, apparently 5,000 bottles (but hard to tell if there was more than one run), still being distributed in 2005.

Interested to know if it has an L code when you receive it.

Cheers  TWB

TWB

The bottle code is L0330821442

I don't know what this means, but there you go. Does it mean it was bottled in 2003?

I have a feeling that it may be 2000. the L code was always L* plus 1 digit for the year.

Since 2010 it is possible they have gone to 2 digits but that needs to be categorically clarified as I'm not sure.

I see Someone has posted 2 Midleton 26 years old on the whiskyauction.com site this month.i'm going to make a crack at another one this time,I was beaten on my last attempt but hopefully if there is 2 out there the price should be more reasonable.
The supply and demand theory, but this post may just put that one to bed.
I had the pleasure of tasting one in the VAT house in Dublin a few years back.(i had made a few bob on something and decided to really push the boat out)
It was a shocking price €150 a shot, but pretty awesome i have to say.
Has anyone opened in their collection? I've had the pleasure of the 25 year old with a few friends but hard to recall the experience i admit,

As i reported earlier i bid on both of those 26 year old Midletons. i won both, €1400 for the 2 was good price but i assumed i'd be out bid on the last week, especially since i was on holidays with no way to bid.
well now i confined to my house for next few months because i over extended the credit card once again.
