Watching Mad Men boxset these past few weeks and Jameson gets alot of exposure in series 3. Canadian Club was predominant in series 1 but Jameson really stands out on the shelf even if another bottle is picked up.

In the Sylvester Stallone film "F*I*S*T", toward the end of the movie, he is sitting on the patio with his partner, with a bottle of Jameson on the table.

F*I*S*T = Federation of Interstate Truckers. Good movie.

Never heard of this actor Ray Stevenson, seemingly based on a true story though and I do like a gangster film now and then 8-) . With Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer, Vinnie Jones and a whole raft of regular Italian mobster actors so there seems to be a bit of money behind it. May be worth a watch.

In the TV Show Treme, that comes on HBO, Jameson is ordered all the time. Supposedly Jameson is extremely popular in New Orleans, and is usually ordered with a Miller High Life (Not sure how you would do that?)

Went to see The Guard last night ... Only an okay film as there is a bit too much "Paddy Whackery" in it but Brendan Gleeson in excellent in it and worth seeing for him alone.

Anyway the very first scene is a speeding car with a few youths in it drinking from a bottle of Irish Whiskey, which I do believe is a bottle of Dundalgen Irish Whiskey from Lidl ... no expense spared there then but fits the profile of the lads in the car.

Gleeson is seen pouring a whiskey later on in the film. We only see the back of the bottle but I'm nearly positive it is a bottle of Slane Castle.

Kudos for going left of field

On the Watefront (1954), starring Marlon Brando. They unload a crate of Jameson. The boxes say JJ&S Dublin whiskey and have the logo of the man hauling a barrel.

You can see the boxes at the beginning of this clip: http://youtu.be/4XLbRI0kdLg

Later the mobsters are sitting around drinking Paddy in the union office. The label is pretty much identical to today. It was a blend even then.

Nice catch! The boxes also say "Bottled for W. A. Taylor & Co New York" and "86 proof" (43% in our money).

I'm sure I saw a bottle of Jameson 12yo featured in 'The Decendants'. Tipple of choice of George Clooney!

Was there ever an Irish brand called "Keegan's". I ask because a bottle of "Keegan's Irish Whiskey" featured prominently in a wild west bar gunfight I watched on DVD earlier. By the way it was a DVD of the original Muppet Show from the 70's. And the gunfighters were chickens. Gonzo was the barman.

I'm not making this up! :?

Here's a nice appearance of Jameson in a YouTube video of a guy talking to his 20-year younger self. Worth watching!

Jameson's features prominently on the backbar in the TV comedy 'How I Met Your Mother' at McLaren's pub. Barney is a regular whisk(e)y drinker, though his preferred brand is not stated, to my knowledge.

My favorite whiskey cameo is in Season 3 of Sons Of Anarchy, Chibbs is drinking a Jameson juice box.

In political thriller "State of Play" Russel Crowe grabs a bottle of Jameson in his appartment and refers to it as Irish wine and also says Slainte ... must be a rub from his drinking days with Peter O'Toole.

"Bar Rescue", a reality show on Spike TV in the US that is similar to 'Kitchen Nightmares', featured Downey's Restaurant in Philadelphia. Being one of many Irish pubs/bars/restaurants in Philadelphia, the emphasis on Irish whiskey and related mixed drinks was featured as a component in the turnaround of the establishment. A quick shot of the whiskey menu showed an unspecified Tyrconnell selling for $22 for a drink! The 10 yo Port Cask serving I had in Toronto a couple of weeks ago was only $14. The show's host was using the Tyrconnell and its pricing as an example of how the listing of a high end, high priced drink will actually increase alcohol sales away from the 'cheap $5 shots' to the mid-range offerings of $10 - $15.

The owner is an Italian born gentleman who is a classically trained chef who had quite clearly checked out of the business of running a restaurant, but seems to have regained the passion after admitting to the show's host that things went downhill for him after his brother had died. Here's hoping that the momentum stemming from the re-launch continues for a while.

Checking the restaurant's site, one of my whisky 'pet peeves' rears its ugly head, yet again...for some unknown reason the restaurant does not list a whisk(e)y menu on-line! I have always been perplexed by this, especially when an establishment has a whisky selection beyond just the 'mixers' and (in this part of the world, at least) Glenfiddich 12 & Glenlivet 12 as their single malt options. Please restaurants/bars, be proud of, and promote, your whiskies!! <mini rant now complete>
