Corked Bottles

Should corked bottles be stored on their side to keep the cork wet , or should they be stored upright.
All opinions greatly recieved.

never store corked whiskey on their side for long,

first, the alcohol destroy the cork
second, you can get a very bad taste from the cork

i learnt this the hard way...
on a Midleton very rare i had on its side for a few years, i have opened the capsule, the cork was very loose, just the cap held it in place, so i could not seal it after i opened it

i had no choice, had to drink the whole bottle, but i was happy to do that
Happiness is having a rare steak,a bottle of whiskey, and a dog to eat the rare steak!!!
