Dunville VR Whisky

Postby davequa » Sat Aug 13, 2011 11:14 pm

I have a bottle of Dunville VR whisky which I bought for a fiver at a house clearance a few years ago. I'm having difficulties finding out much about it and I'd be grateful if some of the experts on here could enlighten me.

Any info on the bottle would be appreciated

Other things I'd like to know are :

Should I
1. Just drink it (what is it likely to taste like?)
2. Sell it (is it likely to be worth much?)
3. Save it for a rainy day so it can boost my pension in the future

I've attached a few pics of the bottle and labels (there is also a neck label saying it won a Gold Award at the Paris Exhibition in 1900)

Many thanks for any help anyone can provide

You could do any of those things. It's likely to be worth a lot in such good condition. They were selling for (or for sale for) about 1,500 euro at the top of the market, but I'm not sure what they're going for now. There's on on the Whisky Exchange in not as good condition for close to £1,000 - http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/twesea ... q=dunville. Of course, you can't expect to get retail prices either.

I'd keep it or sell it if I were you, and you could try some at a bar somewhere if you were curious. Probably cost you over 100 euro a shot, though.

PS, you could ask the Celtic Whiskey Shop in Dublin to give you a price for it.

If you're still interested in selling it, I know a publican who might be interested in buying it.
