7 Natural Wonders of the world

Postby IrishWhiskeyChaser » Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:13 pm

Time to get Ireland in on the act.

We have only one nomination and that is the wonderful Cliffs of Moher the highest cliffs in Europe. These cliffs are also Irelands biggest tourist attraction with a visitor centre built into a hillside so as not to upset the natural environment. It is also a wonderful nature reserve for a multitude of birds and Special Area of Conservation.

Vote here ... everybody is required to select 7 different attractions

I've voted for the Cliffs... My father's from Co Clare, so we spent a good bit of time around there when I was younger. They're beautiful.

Not sure they're the highest cliffs in Europe (or even Ireland!), but they're still spectacular.

I'm not sure I've even seen seven of these "wonders" in person. (Sorry to admit I haven't been to the Cliffs of Moher either.) I should get out more.

Yes got carried away with myself there with slight exageration

Anyway highest cliffs in Europe are Troll Wall, Norway 1100m

Sea cliffs .... top 3 (According to Wikipedia which can be an unreliable source)

Hornelen, Norway, 860 m above Frøysjøen
Cape Enniberg, Faroe Islands, 750 m above North Atlantic
Croaghaun, Achill Island, Ireland, 668 m above Atlantic Ocean

Cliffs of Moher ony come in 13th

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland, 217 m above Atlantic Ocean

This is nothing more than an ad campaign for sugar water.
7 up couldn't give a s**** for the Cliffs of Moher. What are they asking the French or the Brits to 'get behind' in their campaigns there, I wonder.
Count me out.

Jaysus ... and I thought I was cynical ...

No harm in highlighting our own though is there and I haven't felt compelled to buy fizzy sugary water when I was on the site :P
