Brora 30yo.

Let's talk whiskey.

Brora 30yo.

Hi All,

Does anyone have a Brora 30yo in their collection? If so would you recommend a purchase, I believe that the 2008 release was a 25yo so I'm thinking that the remaining supplies are being whittled down in the old distillery?

All the best,
John.

Hi John

It's supposed to be stellar stuff, although I have not tasted the official releases. The stuff from the 1970s is supposed to be the best.

I have the 2006 version, which I'm trying to sell at the moment!

That's what I'm hearing. At the moment, I'm torn between that and the Port Ellen 1978 8th Release which I believe is meant to be a fantastic expression. Both are very different drinks I'll grant you, but given the way the availability is going for them you kind of have to strike while the iron is hot or you may either do without or re-mortgage the house :D and the Port Ellen going like there is no tomorrow! Ironic that they are being phased out. :?
All the best,

John all the 30yo annual releases were great, apart from the price.
It's better to have drunk it all, than never to have drunk at all.

I have tried the 2004 bottling, very robust, spicy and meaty, but I'm not (yet?) a buyer/consumer of this price category.

Hi Tsolias,

Is that a Panathinaikos logo?

Yeah, it's hard to justify drinking whisky at that price, sure enough.

Hi JohnM,

I am a Panathinaikos (and Glasgow Celtic) fan alright, the avatar is actually a tattoo picture I found searching the net, combines the shamrock with celtic knots, and I liked it.

As for the price issue, the most expensive bottle I've ever purchased was a Highland Park 25y.o. (with a black wooden cylindrical box, early '00s I suppose). I found it a couple of years ago in a small liquor store downtown for just 120euros, a real bargain!!!

Sorry for the off-topic.
