online shopping

Let's talk whiskey.

online shopping

Postby Cosmic.... » Wed Mar 25, 2009 1:21 am

while i would always try and support local specialist retailers, and while aware that many many rip offs lurk on ebay ....

what is peoples expierence of online shopping? any good sites? any bad sites? any horror stories.

this ties in with another post of mine, basically looking for a bottle of loch lomond and was unsure about shopping online....

The 3 best sites you can use from the UK are the following

The Whiskey Exchange

Royle Mile Whiskies

Loch Fyne Whiskey

I agree with adrian. Those sites are very reliable.

I usually buy online from the continent or America, due to even cheaper prices.
However, I have run into customs issues in the past from America, and with sterling having fallen so much in recent times, the British retailers are now much better value than before.

just a quick follow up, I looked at orderuing from the Loch Lomand website and they were going to put 500euro P&P on top of the cost of the bottle!

so, as you may have guessed, i decided not to spend that much.....

By the way a very useful site is www.interparcel.co.uk they will give you a quote for courier pick-ups anywhere in the U.K. and export to Ireland.

For example I've used them to pick up from the Cadenheads (i.e. Springbank) whisky shop as they had a 16yo cask strength peated Cooley. I've also used them to pick-up from Bladnoch for the forum bottlings . Each time it has worked out @£16 for up to 6 bottles (10kg).

BTW thewhiskyexchange have 1992 Connemara for £39.99

Sea The Stars in the Arc. You heard it here last.

I think they're working hard to get it up and running.

Bought a bottle of the Connemara 16 single cask, which is 17 years old..., there today. I think it might have been the one we tried during the dinner after the distillery visit.
