Bargain Buys (whiskey, whiskey books, etc)

Let's talk whiskey.

I should have added, that these were in Saint Aidans Crescent Pettits. The 3 Swallow was not on the shelves at 10.30 but produced from store in due course. I think that the Paddy was also €24 and the Jameson is in new presentation box.

If you go to Dunne's and buy a bottle of Redbreast 12yo for €60, you get a voucher for €10 off your next purchase (within the following week) over €50 which-- by coincidence-- might well be a another bottle of Redbreast, at net cost of €50 therefore. Seems good maths to me! :)

Very True! And I should have made clear is that with your purchase of the second bottle of Redbreast (say) you get another 10euro voucher to use with your third purchase. And so on .............ad infinitum?

Great info Ken. Thanks for that. After a few purchases it'll be like getting a bottle for free. I may even get food.

I was in Pettitts Supervalu on the Quay in Wexford and their selling Paddy Centenary for €65, Power's Theee Swallow for €40 & Jameson Black Barrel for €42. I think all Supervalus are the same. This offer will last until Christmas I'm told.

I ordered it too but have noticed my account has 2 pending debuts from the distributor. I'll have to wait and see if I've been overcharged. It's still a bargain.

Totally forgot to mention but Powers nas is €21 in Dunnes Currently but has been that way all week so possibly need to grab one today as these deals only seem to last a week. A Litre is €32 still a good deal but slightly dearer.

I got one in Supervalu for €21 too. Great price.

I was sent a photo of Powers 3 Swallow in Tescos for €37. I've €21 in vouchers so I think I'll spend €16 and get one. Definitely a bargain.

A no brainer Will,

Paddy €20 in Tesco currrently .... I love to know how they are doing it.

€20 23% less vat = 15.40 less Duty (11.92 per 70cl bottle) = €3.48

So basically they are selling a bottle of whiskey for €3.48 when you deduct all taxes .... nuts.

I suppose they are all going to push this to get people through the doors for Christmas before the law comes into force where they can't sell at a discounted loss.

Internetwines.com has Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy for $159.99. Never ordered from them and never spent that much on a bottle but it's $90 less than my local Binny's. Back the truck up or not worth it?

I'd stock up straight away. That's a bargain. That's the price of Jameson 18 in Ireland. It has to be a mistake, $90 less than Binny's, has to be.

I found a Powers 12 today for €40. Happy days. It was in an old coastal off-licence. I'm guessing the price hasn't changed for a decade.
