Technically everyone Irish was British at that time, even those fighting for independence.

Aha. I didn't know Shackleton died as early as Jan 1922. Aged 47.

I was sent a sample of the Shackleton Replica and it is a very good dram which I have just reviewed on Whisky Emporium.
To set the scene I have dug up a few facts about the various attempts to conquer the South Pole.

How did you get a sample? Just curious.

It was sent to me, along with a few other people.
As yet I haven't seen any of the commercial sample sellers offering this one, but I suspect they will eventually.

They have hidden bottles of this around the UK and Ireland. There's one bottle in Dublin. If you have a smart phone, you can download Repudo and and go looking for the Dublin bottle on Monday...

Baaaa hum bug ...

A nice cool £5 mill to be bled from whiskey enthusiasts and yes I'm being very cynical on this one but not surprised.

...but £5 of the £100 price is going to charity! :P If you think that price is bad (apprx Can$160), the LCBO here in Ontario had a small quantity of it for (I believe) around Can$250!!

We tried this last week in WJ Kavanagh's. Rob Allanson brought it over. He tried the original too and said they are a remarkably good match.

It's a beautiful whisky.
