Chairman's Select Rye from Canadian Club. Gambled on a few bottles after seeing some intriguing reviews and I'm happy I did.

Springbank 18 year old.
When I wander from Ireland, in both the whiskey and geographical sense ,I don't like to go too far. Often I can't manage to get beyond Campbeltown which, as the crow flies, is only a few miles from Bushmills. I love the products of that fair town in all its shapes, forms and varieties.
My latest engagement is with this 18 y.o. I bought the second last bottle in the stock of the Celtic Whiskey Shop; half way through the bottle I decided this love affair is too good to last. And so I sped back to the CWS for the last remaining bottle. Alas, some bounder had nipped in and bought it.
Reader, were you that person? If so, enjoy as much as I did/do!

Bushmills 16yo. Beautiful red berry finish and fantastic colour!

That's a great looking tasting Birdman.
I'm on the new Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton. I must prefer it over the regular one. It adds an extra layer of flavour that I didn't expect from a wine finish.

Hopefully there's more of this cooking in the Midleton kitchens.

I agree. the wine finish helped round out the "graininess" I find with the current Green Spot. A dangerous Dram.

Dangerous indeed, I'm feeling it this morning.

I'll have to take it easy on the rest of the bottle.

Well that didn't go to plan. I'll have to replace this one. Excellent all round.

Last night had some Powers 12yo, for some strange reason I found it very sweet. Maybe it was always that way

Followed up with a small Laphroaigh 10yo batch 4 cask strength ... I really like this batch above any of the others I've tried 8-)

After seeing a Redbreast 12 Year Old 5 Fl Oz bottle get £400 at auction earlier today I decided to revisit my bottle and see what all the fuss is about. I'm guessing I drank the value of a medium size car in the last few years, going by those prices.

I was up in the big smoke to arrend a Whiskey Society meeting. These generally turn into a little tasting for me.
I had a stunning Mortlach 15 and a Hazelburn 12. I'm back to the sticks again and am finishing the night off with a Glendronach Cash Strength batch 4. It's a stunning whisky.

Delighted to have some discerning lads join me this evening here in America for a low-key tasting:
Ryan's 12
Yellow Spot
Knappogue 12 Single Cask
Knappogue 1994 Twin Wood
Celtic Cask (and yes, I forget the number)
Additional drams that were consumed for medicinal purposes only

Had a lot of fun with tastings over the weekend:

- Teeling Single malt which is delicious. Very similar to bushmills but theres an extra edge to it. Bottle half gone already.
- Teeling small batch. Hated it. Tasted sharp, brutally bitter, and mostly just an alchol taste. the kind that makes you shudder. If i wanted that taste id go for the cheapest tesco brand label. will be avoiding in future. left the end of that bottle at a party and was happy to be done with it.
- Jameson 12. Surprised by this one with how malty it is, for a pot still blend. I know they use malted barley in the recipe but it never came out so strongly in any other jameson i tried. Very chocolate/toffee based flavor. Would be tempted to pick up a bottle if it was at the right price.
-black bush - must have gotten through the best part of a bottle of this over the weekend. its a staple go to whenever im out, suitably tasty and not overly pricy when out and about.

Some nice whiskeys there all right.

Currrently enjoyiong a Bowmore 25yo.

Deep luxurious fruit cake with candied orange peel to the fore verging on burnt with a nice layer of gentle smoke and iodine with liquorice mmmm .... forgot how good this was.

Trying to fend off some difficult and unexpected medical news with the following:
Palace Bar 14
Teeling An Pucan
Teeling 21
Mano a Lamh
Knappogue 1951
Murray McDavid Cooley 1992
Connemara 22

Plus some Ben Nevis 25 to humour the token Scotsman among us.....
