If you want to know what Canadian Rye whisky SHOULD taste like (i.e. 100% rye, not the CC/CR/Gibson's/Wiser's, etc. mixer material that only has a smattering of rye in the bottle) I would heartily recommend Lot 40 @ 43%, which came out in Ontario this past fall (November, iirc). Awesome stuff. I just opened my bottle, and will be picking up another one before this batch sells out. It would be awesome if a batch of Lot 40 was issued at cask strength.

I had Lot 40 years ago before it disappeared, how does the new version compare? I'd put the Dark Horse in the same league as the old Lot 40.

You may have stumbled across something interesting, different shaped glasses will help you discover the many different notes that emanate from a whiskey.

Going with the B's tonight. Bookers, Bulleit and some Bunnahabhain. Washing down with Beer of course.

Only having taste. I've been looking at the Bunnahabhain for a while and only decided to open today. Nice stuff.

Enmore rum and Ardbeg, oh and a few bottles of red Burgundy too. I expect the morning might be a bit touch-and-go.

After an extremely hard days work behind a chainsaw and an axe(I'm feeling my age), I've poured myself a large Powers John's Lane. Pure heaven.

A chain saw and axe? Fire wood or crime?

Karuizawa Spirit of Asama 48% Very nice sherry monster. Maybe a bit heavy for a nice spring day, but I'll soldier on.

Taking my name in vain I see! Laphroaig dutifully kept and stored in a safe place for later transmission to recipient.

I am new to whisk(e)y as a hobby (coming up on about 2 1/2 years) so I missed on the original Lot 40. I opened my bottle as part of a mega tasting with five others and all, especially one friend who is a rye freak, really enjoyed it. A pleasant eye-opener for the evening. I don't know of anybody who has had both batches for a comparative assessment.

I've had the new Lot 40 now. It is very similar. I won't say more than that without the two side-by-each. Hard not to drink the entire bottle.
