What's your latest whiskey purchase?

Let's talk whiskey.

The Paul Daly one was the first, and used two years in a row because it was popular the first time around and they thought it deserved wider distribution, if I recall correctly.

That said, there was an earlier aluminium canister. See IWC's prescient comments on that here:

"However the St Patricks day skin has been a very sucessful addition to the bottle and possibly Jameson may have another look at this sort of strategy."

This bottle was also released in duty free/europe.

When I was ear wigging in the Jameson shop, I over heard a gentleman saying the St.Paddys day bottle/label was to be an annual occurance (different label design every year).

No, spending it all on whisky is perfectly sensible. That is an interesting bottle, any info on it?

Oh, and Lot 40. Bloody good stuff, not often you find a 100% rye mash, let alone malted rye.

Just bought a Connemara Bog Oak, CWS Connemara Amontillado Finish and a Writer's Tears CS. If you're on this forum Al it's been quite amusing :D - and sorry about missing the answer phone messages - been too busy cycling around parts of Norn Iron!

Just catching up on my thread reading and I saw this comment after replying to you about Lot 40 on another thread...glad you've enjoyed it so much! It will be a 'stockpile' purchase (which for me is simply buying a bottle when I still have one open...I wish I could swing a case) in the future, before this batch goes.
The wishlist is always growing...

An Irishman's cask strength. I got it in the Scottish auctions for £75 so not too bad a value, even with commission I think.

A week and a half ago saw me pick up Compass Box Oak Cross, and my final bottle of Port Charlotte 'An Turas Mor'. I also picked up two ATM's for my next door neighbour friend. My purchases these days are largely influenced by my wish list crossed with the stock at the LCBO in Ontario that is marked as 'limited supply' (correctly or not). Next up, stock permitting, will be Knob Creek Single Barrel, possibly the best value bottle of whisk(e)y in Ontario (60% abv @ $55).

As well as a Powers John's Lane i also picked up this Japanese interest. Image taken with an old rangefinder lens dating from 1957, purchased with some hassle from Hong Kong and with the help of an old friend who lives there (if you're reading this - thanks again Ronnie :D ), made by a company called Chiyoda Kogaku, later to be known as Minolta. Looking through one new purchase at another. Anyway, enough with the waffle.
