What time should I call around at? Can I have the empty bottle when you're finished? Will I bring a mixer?

A nice dash of Coke would probably make it palatable ... ;)

Forgot to mention that I got a couple of Bushmills 1608 400th anniversary in Adli when they were in store a week or so ago.

Must admit I'm very partial to this release and prefer it over the 16yo. So I was delighted to get the opportunity to get it at €60 a pop. Even though after buying it I realised Ally has it for €64.99 so there was no major panic if I missed the Aldi offer.

This is a blend but barely as it has over 95% malt content, crystal malt to be precise. Colum Egan was telling me that they had hoped to bottle it as a single malt but he found that putting in a tiny amount of grain enhanced it perfectly. I'm not complaining ... and I admire him for doing it as selling this as a single malt may have given it more kudos to many buyers.

I was looking at some of them too but have most. I would be interested in the final price of the Redbreast. They were common enough a few years ago but now seem to be getting a premium price. I might sell one or two of mine if they can get near € 200.

Christmas gifts that have come my way included:

- Lot 40 Copper Pot Still Canadian Whiskey (from a good friend)
- Smokehead (from my next door neighbour who I have converted to whisk(e)y over the past two years)
- Longrow CV
and finally

- Writer's Tears (fittingly, from my wonderful wife who was an English/History major in university)

Can't wait to open these in the next few months, after I finish some other bottles first.
The wishlist is always growing...

I'd forgot about the lot 40. I have a bottle hidden away somewhere.

My latest is Woodford reserve. Nice. I'll be opening it soon enough.

This Lot 40 is a new batch that was released (at least in Ontario) in fall, 2012. I believe the previous batch was issued in 2008 (though I would appreciate being corrected, if necessary).

A late Christmas gift came from a good friend of ours in California who got me Sullivan's Cove Double Cask from Tasmania Distillery in Australia. Really looking forward to trying this one, though I will likely be waiting until spring, after several other bottles have been finished.

I thought you couldn't you sniper technology on whiskyauction.com. I usually put on a bid on in the first or the last day with a realistic maximum and hope for the best.

I picked up the Càrn Mòr Single Grain 1973 today. Its for my 40th later in the year.

I also got Redbreast 15 for €55. I thought it would surely be out bid but wasn't. I took a punt on a few others but was out bid early on them.

Which one's were you looking at?

Recently picked up a higher strength, non chillfiltered Taketsuru 17. And a Lagavulin Distillers Edition. Waiting on the new Littlemill 21 OB.

I got a bottle of Redbreast 12 year old recently. It's bottled in bond for Fitzgerald & Co. I see they fetch a decent price at auction. I paid little more than normal price.
I have it sitting pretty beside the IDL and Edward Dillon ones.

Does anyone know if the Fitzgerald and Dillon one's are much different in taste or quality to the IDL bottles?

Hi GWH,

Not sure about the difference in taste, but given the Fitz & Co was distilled in the 1980s & bottled 1990s I'm sure there would be differences to todays version.

Can you check your Edward Dillon & Fitz & Co. bottles for bottling codes, that would help me greatly with my dating project for Redbreast,

Cheers TWB
