Hi Matt,

Is this an Irish or Scotch or is it a Cooley bottled by West Cork
because they are only at it themselves 3 to 4 years at the very
most ! I think they have used Breton whiskey in the past as well.
What precise phraseology is used to describe the product ???

I've looked at these bottles and they don't indicate where the spirit is from. The distillery hasn't been operating long enough to have whiskey this age.

Have you tried it Matt?

2 of them (one a 10 year old) have just gone up on the Whiskyauction website
where you can have a good luck at the labels. Labels look good and the contents
description appear in order but the question is not answered of where the 10 tear
old is from. Label design is attractive. I like the inclusion of the map.
If there is anyone from the West Cork Distillery monitoring the forum it would
be great for them to engage !!!

I have no further Information on the West Cork Whiskey currently.

http://www.independent.ie/business/iris ... 21525.html

I have a bottle to open, but it is smashing 34°C in the last days!
I first have to find a cool cave for the tasting. That is definitely too hot for me :sunny:

Me too. I wonder when they made the arrangement? Beam was not interested in supplying, so could this be Santory's first notable change under their ownership?

Yes Distiller we were chatting about the West Cork stuff. They come across as a very shy crew and very limited information is out there to explain their set up, products etc.

But While we are at it ... where is Jacks Choice from ;-)

Not sure about the West Cork stuff. Does the label say 10 year old Irish Single Malt? I have heard rumours... but can't say anything for sure.

Now "Jack Choice" I can comment on. That would be the preferred tipple of the eldest Teeling Brother. It is a very nice single malt with some older elements adding to the flavour profile. The whiskey has spent some time in a Sauternes cask which has added an extra length to the finish. I think it is great value and a good malt.

You'll have to return to try the Bushmills 21. Have you got you hands on Redbreast 21 yet?

I had a chance to try the Bushmills 21 twice while in Maryland...whenever I have a chance to return visit, it will likely be to buy the Bushmills 21 and/or PJL 12 and/or Redbreast 12 CS. Hopefully one, or more, of them makes it to Ontario in the near future. I have yet to see Redbreast 21 on a store shelf.

It's great to be spoilt for choice and "not" be able to get all you want ... leaves the "want" pull in the back of your mind active which I think is no bad thing ;-)

I am currently going through a phase where there is not much I actually want and that leaves a minor void ;-)

I can't complain though as I have plenty in the stash to keep me going
